It is the year 1415,and the known world is on the brink of war. Recruitment posters pop up everywhere, soldiers train to an extreme level of discipline, even marching to the bathrooms. Knights ride about, scouting the forests for signs of enemy activity. You are a simple peasant,as you have been your whole life. You recently entered manhood, and are now tasked with earning extra money for your family. You choose to do this by:
A:Becoming your Father's smithing assistant B:Signing up to join a mercenary company C:Begging on the streets D:Er..."singing" at the tavern |

You figure you have combat experience after all those stick fights with the other children all of those years ago,and the time your father made you test his weapons. You sign up for a mercenary company passing through town, and you are accepted. However,it is too late to realize that you have no weapon and no armor, and the company is on the march to take down a small enemy war party right now!If you come in unprepared, you will die humiliated in front of men you never got to know...what do you do?!
A:Ask around to see if anyone can spare a sword and a gambeson B:Attempt to make your own weapon from some of the supplies you brought along C:Attempt to steal a weapon from a comrade D:Go into the fight and hope you don't die |

You decide to risk humiliation, and ask around for a spare sword or armor. A single mercenary of a higher rank hands you a rusty sword, inscribed with french words. "Tis a family heirloom, don't lose it or I'll replace it with thou's head" he says. He also hands you an arming cap and a gambeson-the basic armor, useful for little more than keeping chainmail from pinching. You did happen to bring a belt and a sword frog-you equip these and happily join the march to war. You reach a hill, and a higher ranked gentleman in a kettle hat pulls out a flag and attaches it to his spear. He shouts orders like "Bowmen, assemble" and "form 3 lines" at which several men with bows and crossbows exit the column of mercenaries and form a line at the top of the hill. You hear screaming from below the hill, but the bowmen haven't fired yet...it hits you. You've met a force of barbaric warriors of some sort, and they'd all be happy to kill you. A man shouts your name, and you turn to see a line of swordsmen forming in front of the bowmen...you're part of the first charge, which means you could easily be the first to die. Do you...
A:Join the line B:Try to run away C:Attempt to hide |

Much more afraid of what the mercenaries will do to you if you desert then what the barbarians can do to you if you fight, you reluctantly join the line. A prominently dressed man in a fancy tabard over plate armor instructs all spearmen in the line to assemble at the front. They lower their spears, pointing down the side of the hill as enemy soldiers charge up. You unsheath your sword, and hold it in a thrusting position, aware of the strategy. The man shouts "Charge" and the spearmen race down the hill. The other swordsmen charge in behind them one by on. It is about your turn to charge when you are aware that more enemies are charging to flank the first charge. Do you...
A:Crouch down and hide until the skirmish below is over B:Try to run away C:Charge in D:Attempt to warn the soldiers below |

You run down, sweating from the cotton gambeson you're wearing in summer heat. You stop close to the fray and shout. You hope this works... "Look out!More of them on the left flank!" You scream at the top of your lungs, hoping for the soldiers below to hear. The prominently dressed fighter runs as fast as he can in plate armor out of the battle, lifts his visor, and shouts. He gives the order of "Spearmen, cavalry position left" and most of the spearfighters turn to the left and lower their spears. The swordsmen continue fighting. Even with the glare of the sun so bright on this blazing hot summer day,you can see these brave spearmen hold the enemy charge, blood and screams filling the air. The survival of these men depends on everything you just did, just those few seconds ago, charging down the hill, uncaring of the scrapes and cuts you receive from the sharp rocks and the tall, pointy grass. The enemy is overwhelming the others, and you become aware that the leader of the group is being assaulted by multiple enemies at the same time,no help from his comrades. His life could be the difference of this battle. Do you... A:Let him handle them himself,if he can B:Charge in to help him C:Attempt to throw him your sword |

You charge in to aid him,in a brief moment of self heroism. You slide next to him, saving your life from a high ax blow. You lift your sword in a two handed fashion as one of these fine bearded gentlemen turns his attention to you. The man takes advantage of this and quickly stabs the sword straight the the foe's throat. Blood spatters all over your face and chest, but you don't stop to wipe any off. It's now or never to save a life or lose two. One of these gentlemen attacks the fancily dressed man,and you have your own problems. He raises his ax and swipes down with the intention of chopping your head in half like a cabbage.Do you...
A:Raise your sword to block it B:Thrust your sword and hope you hit first C:Attempt to slice the ax above you in half |

You raise your sword to slice the ax in half, but instead,it gets stuck in the wood above this foe's hand. You yank the sword down hard, pulling the ax out of his hand and freeing it from your sword. You kick the man before he can draw his dagger, and he doubles over in pain. You feel a strange satisfaction from this, and raise your sword. You are aware that there are honorable and dishonorable ways to kill,so you take a second to think. Should you...
A:Strike him down now (lose some honour) B:Let him draw his sword (gain some honour) C:Throw him to the ground and attempt to knock him out (Neutral) |

You decide that honor doesn't matter on the battlefield, and you swing your sword, plunging it into the man's back. You drag the sword back towards you, cutting his back open, and then you kick him in the face, causing him to fall backwards to the ground. You turn and see the man in the tabard and plate armor once more being overwhelmed by a group of three enemies. You charge in to help him. Do you...
A:Attempt to attack the nearest enemy B:Hand the man your sword and grapple the nearest enemy C:Throw your sword at the nearest enemy |

You throw your sword...and it misses. You have no choice but to run or charge. You're sweating like crazy and you can barely see, you're too busy panting and coughing. You didn't promise your parents that you'd make them money just to die here, you didn't join these gentlemen and walk all this way just to die here! Your entire world is crashing down right now as a foe charges towards you,ax raised- that's it! Down! You look down and pick up a sword from a dead man,and you lunge forward, skewering the man. With his last breath he cuts your arm badly, and you're bleeding heavily. Your arm goes numb, but you honestly don't care. This battle has given you your own chance at heroism and it's your time to take it! The tabard man is fighting hard, and the battle is almost over. The mercenaries are winning, but no one is helping him. Do you.. A:Throw the sword with renwed focus and accuracy B:Charge towards them C:Decide that he can handle himself (I think i'll make an actual medieval RP later today) |
