Most games (probably ROBLOX too) only utilize 1 core in your CPU.
Now, what is a CPU core? A CPU core is basically it's own CPU. Yes, you can run your PC off of one core. Adding multiple cores allows your computer to multitask better.
Processing games off of one core isn't really the world's biggest bottleneck, but when most people game, they are only playing 1 instance. Games are usually the most CPU intensive software around, so it makes sense allocating more cores to process it.
Using multiple cores can make loading levels a lot faster. CPU's generally process the loading and rendering of games, since GPU's now take care of almost all of game processing. People with lower end GPU's but with a CPU which is worth it's weight will see a small FPS and graphical capability boost.
In short, ROBLOX developers should focus on letting people use 2,3,4,6, and 8 cores on their CPU. The amount of lag reduced by this would astonish you, especially the people with a lot of cores.
Much of the lag in ROBLOX is generated by loading bricks en masse rather then the graphics. |
