| For all the problems to have, this sounds like a pretty neat one. I wish I had as much time to read as I did as a kid. |

time
Doing chores, birthdays, Christmas, finding Barnes and Noble gift cards lying around.
(Also I just checked, I have 9.5 books that I still need to read, ranging from bought last week to bought 4 or 5 years ago.) |

"you're well read, it's well known"
But I don't read fast enough to keep up with all that I want to read. I've been meaning to read so many things that I have but I only read one book at a time. Next one I read will probably end up being the biography of Stonewall Jackson I got a week ago, unless I get another book on the Civil War. I'll probably never get to 8 of the 9.5 books I've never read, whether through lost interest (Annals of Imperial Rome) or lack of time (everything else). |

"the Civil War"
I've always meant to ask you, what is your strange infatuation with the American Civil War?
is it something cliche, such as the all-too-common concept that family members could have fought each other?
i assume, you being you, it's more likely to be the technology or strategies or some such |

"go to the library instead of buying them"
too expensive won't ever remember to return the books or they will just get cast aside and never read by the time they are due
I did manage to interrupt my reading Sherman's memoirs for Sherlock Holmes, but I finished that up on Friday, so now back to Sherman and/or L'étranger. |

"what is your strange infatuation with the American Civil War?"
started out with fifth grade teacher teaching it i realized i knew more than schools taught us then it probably became for the strategies and technology (I have one book on grand strategy, two on submarines, one on sharpshooters and at least 10 on lesser-known campaigns of the war.) |

| I do manage to hold off buying more books until I finish any and all unfinished Clive Cussler novels though. And I've recently gotten into Ian Fleming's novels too. |

I went to a used bookstore once. I ended up getting 14$ or so of books. If I remember correctly, it was 3 or 4 on chess and two French books. One was dual language, which I don't like, as I tend to not read the French section, and I lost the other one before I even started it. (It was a Moliere play, probably a fun read). |

"i realized i knew more than schools taught us"
which, considering the American public school system in which all students are hindered if even one peer is some shade of stupid, is not much, but i honestly respect your attempts at getting some sort of an education
"then it probably became for the strategies and technology"
personally, I am more interested in the years after the Civil War, mainly the last decades of the 19th century up to about 1920
but of all that was happening in that world during those years, nothing captivates my imagination more so than the false stories of the Old West told in the dime novels
the supposed lawlessness of the Wild West (actually being rather lawful, it turns out) and the glorified life of crime and the suits and mustaches excite me |

Apart from the Civil War, I like English literature, French literature (in the original French because I'm pretentious too), science, math and classical history.
Also I found out wikisource has the same Moliere play that I lost my copy of last November. If it's where I think it is, I'm not getting it back, so wikisource will be helpful. |
