I have seen a few nice (mountain) bikes at a store in the town I live in, and was wondering which would be best for trail riding?
1. Norco 2. Raleigh 3. Specialized 4. Wal*Mart Brand
I am also thinking about putting a small two-stroke chainsaw motor in the middle of the frame, cutting off the pedals, welding a gas tank holder, and more or less turning it into a ghetto(?) dirtbike. It'd be run through the gears+ and I believe the whole project is about $150
+ The motor's driveshaft. to a sprocket on the cut-off left crank, which would spin as normal, and spin the chain from the front gears to the back gears. Giving me more mileage, more speed, more torque, more power in general, and keep the motor from needing frequent servicing for being run at redline++ and overheating / breaking down.
++ Redlining is where the motor maxes out in it's RPMs, usually you can hear a motor redlining and tell it is from it making a high pitched whining noise, which is the crankshaft.
I'd like serious help on this because while I do have the motor, the sprocket(s) and the tools needed to do this project, I would like some feedback on the whole project from the community. And please don't tell me to just buy a dirtbike, I want to make this as a personal project and it'd be just as good, if not better than, a $500 dirtbike... |
