Toronto has become the first major city in Canada to ban plastic shopping bags in a surprise city council vote that the mayor denounced as “ludicrous.”
Excellent. |

| Most people in Toronto don't use them anyways, but this is a good idea because Toronto is pollution covered anyways. |

@tomato They're only banning shopping bags, so they could have bin/box/things which have little bags for dog poo in them, that anyone can take when they need them. We have loads in my area, all around the parks. Plastic shopping bags aren't banned, though, you just have to pay for them. |

| That would cost lots of money for the city which we should be spending on subways and highways because we don't have enough of them and we have terrible traffic problems. |

| Supermarkets tried it in the UK, until the public went wild about it. That's the British spirit right there! |

@Liby
Cause clearly a random dude in finland knows more about Toronto politics than a teen who lives there. That's probably true for most people, but not me. Anyways, if you think of it logically, you will see my point |

No, I don't think he does. __ I have tons of relatives living in Toronto, if that matters. I don't believe it matters.
Besides, I know anything you know too, or even more about the political Toronto, since every single decision, speech, debate or anything of that matter is public information ie accessible from anywhere in the world. I can find you all these acts in pdf files, all speeches in the parliament, everything.
Don't do an ad hominem. |

| That doesn't necessarily mean you do, being in front of an Internet screen we can find anything, so it would be impossible to find out. |

Again, don't fall into an ad hominem. |

Im not a fan of government intervention in my life, yet so much effort put into a small victory.
I say, good riddance to plastic bags. |

I like Paper bags better.
I keep the paper bags and use it as a paper recycling bag. Then the whole thing gets recycled. |

| Oil is the root of all evil. We should me moving towards a petrochemical-free society - bioplastics could be a viable replacement for the plastics we need today, but, of course, Big Oil doesn't like progress. |
