This is what you wanted wasn't it? Yes, I know I'm going to start a flame war and this is me not giving a damn. I'm tired of the disrespect from the wiki and it's writers and - well - this explains it better than I can:

LuaLearners - May not be here for much longer
by coolbob44
Hello,

I, the owner of LuaLearners, would like to thank each and every one of you for your support and help with LuaLearners. I couldn't have done it without you. We have taught many people, and have gotten to be the second-largest scripting group on Roblox (With almost 3000 members).

However, we have not gotten the same support from Roblox or its Wiki. We have been attacked countless times, and some people have even been banned for standing up against the Wiki. The people at the Roblox Wiki seem to care about one sole thing: that the Wiki is the only learning resource. Clearly, LuaLearners works. Here's something someone just posted on our Public Wall:

This is one of the best learning sites i have been to in a long time, In just 1 day i learned so much..and i achieved the rank: Learner(+2) I'm very satisfied with this site :D
-fino

The problem lies in the fact that once they become a Wiki Writer or Editor, they get this idea that they have a higher social status than everyone else. They think that they are superior in every way. Ever tried to talk about Roblox Lua on the Scripters forum? It's because mostly everyone who hangs out there belongs to the Wiki. Sometimes, they will act immature and just post random crap (that would be considered spam, but they don't get banned for who knows what reason), most of the time they will just make fun of you for what you can do with scripting, and when they aren't making fun of you, they are criticizing your every move. And when they aren't doing any of that, they are talking about how bad some peculiar programming language that no one has even heard about is.

I wouldn't have made this information so public, but the Wiki members have already done this many times before. So the question we all have in the back of our minds is this: Should we just quit? Don't get me wrong, I love teaching people. I love seeing that because of what I have done, people are starting their coding careers. It's just- I can't take the constant belittling and harassment. It only started after we got our website, and actually started teaching people.

Remember that we are being stripped of free speech here. If this very message were to be posted on Roblox, someone from LuaLearners would probably have been banned within 24 hours.

What do you, the members of LuaLearners, have to say about this? Should we quit?

-Coolbob44, Owner of LuaLearners.

your site is unofficial and you could with a single click wipe all documents and make an index file with an extremely inappropriate image

you really expect roblox to endorse something they cannot control?

There ARE admins, butthurtness - no. This constant criticism and consistent attacks from your writers are what caused this. I have put up with it for almost a year now without opening my mouth out of respect, but now I'm done.

I have no respect for the wiki, or it's employees.

"I have no respect for the wiki, or it's employees."

So you hate someone just for assisting in a wiki.

I no longer like you or have a shred of respect for you.

Great, because I never had any respect for your arrogance. I just kept my mouth shut because I'm mature. I have no respect for the wiki employees because all they do is spam this forum and get away with it, I get constant rude and attacking messages regarding LuaLearners from your writers - unprovoked. And I will not deal with it for a second longer.

Well don't make an unofficial freaking fan site if you just are going to cry about how they don't officially support it.

Honestly, if you do stupid stuff like post off-site links knowing you will get banned for it then start crying when it happens, just shut up and go away.

The wiki is official. Of course it gets more endorsement from admins. Maybe if you actually gave it a thought you'd realise that it's you that's in the wrong, not wiki writers.

Your site is totally unofficial, noone asked you to make it, and expecting attention for that is just childish.

I can't believe you are arrogant enough to think your site can ever be better than an official community wiki, or that you deserve an entire popular game's community to have to respect you for that.

"or that you expect an entire popular game's community to have to respect you for that"

Only wiki employees don't respect our website - because they're arrogant.

I know the website is not official, that's fine. I am not asking for attention and I did not say ANYTHING about getting banned for posting a link - I don't care about that. We are not official, but we still teach people Lua. Well, have fun with all the noobs complaining about how they can't learn scripting from the wiki, and there won't be another source for them to go because you guys are to selfish to allow anyone else to teach Roblox Lua without persecution.

"you guys are to selfish to allow anyone else to teach Roblox Lua without persecution."

Are you really this stupid?

Noone is freaking taking down your site. To my knowledge you've received no notice from Roblox to take it down.

It's just you annoying kids being spoilt brats because an official site gets more endorsement.

I love how you say wiki writers give you abuse because your site exists, yet I doubt any of the writers are immature enough to do that, and then you also provide no proof.

I personally think Lua Learners is a nice way to teach people. I don't think we can really group all wiki editors and writers together in the same group. D: (Please no stereotyping).

Anyway, the wiki should be updated and changed too.

And incase he deletes it, Slayer posted this on the lualearners wall:

"And whoever reported that link, you made me really mad. If I find out who you are expect to be IP banned from spec-serv and exiled from this group. "

I seriously doubt that posting that is following roblox rules, and it shows that:

1- He is arrogant enough to think he is allowed to post off-site links (I'd accept that in itself but when you start crying about it that just shows arrogance)
2- He is stupid enough to think he should be allowed around roblox rules without punishment

Hello,

I don't mean to be rude, but I would like to point out that my group has been attacked by several members of the Wiki countless times before, and we have all been quiet about it. I love teaching people, but with the constant critiquing of my work from the Wiki, it can be hard to. I'm afraid that I may have to just stop altogether.

Then perhaps you should tell Slayer to lay off.

I'm not in the least bit surprised that you're getting abuse if Slayer is going around swearing on your site and telling people he's going to IP ban them for reporting him for breaking rules.

That's blatant abuse of powers over his site and a formal complaint to the page being listed on the roblox wiki fansite page has been submitted for the reasons I stated above.

I have asked Slayer to just try to ignore the Wiki when they say rude things or attack us, but a person can only take so much.

The deletion of the link to our website from the Wiki would be a major inconvenience to our members, as it is the easiest way to get to our website and for them to learn. I would like to point out that, as you previously stated, since Roblox does not own my website, they shouldn't have to endorse it. That being said, they shouldn't have to care what our moderators do and how we run our website.

I would also like to take a moment and politely ask all Wiki staff to please stop attacking my group. I work hard to teach people, and I often link to the Wiki from my website in my tutorials and on my forum. Just yesterday, someone posted in the Scripting Helpers forum here on Roblox, that LuaLearners has been a big help for them, and he encouraged new scripters to visit our website and try to learn from it. That post turned into a huge argument, because the Wiki staff feels the need to attack my group whenever a post is created about it on Roblox. If you had to reply at all to the post, a nice "Glad you could learn to script" would have sufficed as a reply, don't you think?

I support the Wiki, as a I support my group. We both have the same goal, and I am glad to see someone learn from either one.

Thanks.

Coolbob.

Slayer is throwing abuse at every single editor of the wiki, and apparently CURSING ON YOUR SITE.

He is also handing out IP BANS for FOLLOWING roblox rules.

To emphasise

He is giving

IP BANS

to regular users

JUST BECAUSE THEY FOLLOWED ROBLOX RULES.

That on it's own should be enough to stop the wiki advertising your site entirely.

He hasn't done that, and you took that way out of context. Nobody on LuaLearners has the power to IP ban someone other than me, and we still do not do it often. We have never banned someone for an offense that may have occurred on the Roblox website.

What Slayer said on your group wall, says otherwise.

Read a few posts up. He explicitly said he will get whoever reported him for posting an off-site link IP banned from your website.

I am aware, and I do not feel that it was right of him to say that. He did break a Roblox rule, and the group shout got deleted. He did that on his own accord, and his actions do not reflect the opinions of me or my group.

Perhaps you should reconsider allowing him to manage a site if he is taking actions on your site without your permission and which could threaten the wiki support of your site.

This thread in itself should have been enough to wipe your site off the Wiki, as it's blatantly asking for a flame war.

I've removed my complaint from the wiki page, but do suggest that you manage your site's staff more carefully, it's a bit worrying if they're going around threatening people because they broke rules.

@coolbob

He does this REGULARLY. I hate having to defend his actions for the sake of LuaLearners... Keep him in line or kick him out. It's that simple. He can't be constantly representing the site in this horribly negative way.

A few things:

-The wiki and LuaLearners are both good ways for people to learn how to script on Roblox.
-LuaLearners is not endorsed by Roblox.
-We cannot put links to Spec Serv on the wiki as that is a ROBLOX owned sub-domain. They need to have control of the site to allow that.
-Flaming wiki writers in general is moronic and is being stereotypical.
-I want proof that the wiki writers have put down LuaLearners and they are acting on behalf of the wiki and not their personal opinion; there is a gigantic difference.

So why is this happening? Seems you're butthurt because some writers flamed the site. So what?? Stop acting like you're 6 and grow up a bit. Not everyone's going to agree with you in life. That's just how the world works. So let's not attack the Scripters forum and wiki writers for this. I am both a wiki writer and a moderator on the spec-serv website so I don't like when either side is being attacked. K? Thanks. BAI

I'm not sure whether this is a way of saying 'shut up', being sarcastic, tricking me into thinking you'll actually consider it, or genuinely your way of saying you might do something about it.

Your site even gives out incorrect information. A student is only as smart as his teacher.

"They think that they are superior in every way." There's a member who helps you run your site, and he, in fact... has very minimal coding experience, and just because he became a wiki writer, he automatically thinks that he's a better coder than whom who are not wiki writers.

Calling someone arrogant because they work on the wiki is called prejudice; you can't properly evaluate someone's character based upon what activities they choose to take up.

For example, is an artist stupid because he/she didn't choose to take more advanced mathematics classes? No, but the person in question has chosen a different path.

Also, it's important to note that wiki writers are chosen for experience within ROBLOX. They're recruited because the administrators believe them to have knowledge that could be put to use within the wiki. In this way, the wiki is not simply a scripting database, but also a cumulative informational database related to ROBLOX and the various components of the game itself.

You forgot about the builders, ROBLOX staff, and casual players of the game that all act as wiki writers, editors and administrators. By generalizing the issue you would cause anyone reading your complaint to become biased against the wiki, which is a good source of game relevant information.

Thank you for your time. ~ Popinman322
