Then I'll be able to convince my school to switch to Edubuntu as their OS.
While I dislike Ubuntu, Edubuntu is still Linux. |

@Tiwe
It's not nearly as good as Linux. |

Funny. Most schools are currently switching to Windows 7.
They won't switch to any version of Linux because most people will never encounter a desktop Linux OS in the workplace, and honestly the majority of software in any industry you'll find is either Windows or Mac, so schools have no reason to use Linux for anything. What benefit would it have other than supporting your fanboyism? |

@Typhoon
Linux is rising in popularity very quickly now.
I believe that in the future more people will be using Linux than any other OS family. |

It's no longer just a nerd's toy or a hacker's tool.
Linux, with distros like Mint, is becoming easier to use for the average user. |

| Linux derivatives in smartphones, maybe, but as popular as Mac OSX is, both for home and professional applications, it never even broke the 5% market share barrier until mid-last year. Besides, "in the distant future" isn't what schools are even supposed to prepare anybody for. What use would using Linux desktops in schools have except to confuse students, who not only likely use Windows at home, but also will most likely use Windows in the future if they have anything to do with a computer in their job? |

But kids won't be using Windows in the future.
They'll be using Linux. |

| And comments like that are why you won't be able to convince your school to use Linux. |

@Typhoon
But I have facts and statistics too, about how quickly Linux is growing in businesses and personal use, how much money they would save, etc. |
