It depends on the computer the player(s) is/are using.

What is the universal amount?

Does this seem HIGH to you? 8665 bricks and 3000connectors???

And 5x5 BasePlates (Each one is 2408x2048)

So what number SHOULD I try to keep it under?

@Guest; For me, that would be nothing.

For the average Roblox player (judging by a mix-match of comments and feedback I've received), I believe you should stay under 20,000 bricks and 15,000 connectors. That will probably be a little laggy for most, but still enjoyable.

If you have scripts, you should try to stay under 15,000 bricks and 10,000 connectors.

Anti lag scripts don't really work.

Most actually cause lag.

You can't cut lag. I guess the best you can do is to not use any surfaces or materials.

Smooth, plastic, anchored models are the most lag-friendly.

Meaning make all your bricks plastic, with smooth surfaces, that are anchored, then group them together.

Make all your bricks use the smooth surface. It causes less rendering lag (no need to render studs or other things), less physics lag (no need to calculate connectors, especially when the parts are anchored in the first place) and looks better (I mean, I think a smooth surface looks better than a surface with ugly studs).

As for avoiding materials, don't. When you can use materials, use them. It makes your place look better, anyway. Don't avoid materials just to reduce lag, it's not worth it.

Also, anchoring parts will help a lot. In some cases, though, you might prefer parts to not be anchored.

Finally, there is no magical way to reduce lag. If there was, ROBLOX would implement it in the client, anyway.

Try to always keep your part count below 15k. If you have more parts than that, try to make it useless parts.

Also, don't use BlockMeshes. Seriously, don't put a BlockMesh in every single part. It creates lag and it's useless. If bevels annoy you that much, disable them. That's what I do.
