| In 1845, The Republic of Texas is about to make one of the biggest decisions, wether to join the United States or not. Perhaps you travel in time back to 1845 and contribute to the debate. Do you think Texas should join the United States or not? |

I disagree with Texas joining the United States.
For one thing, when they discovered oil, they could've been one of the most thriving countries in the oil boom era.
Also, in the modern day, Texas can give Oil to the United States because the Texas Government isn't afraid of drilling on their soil, but the US feds don't want them to.
Finally, The Mexican -US war wouldn't be over Texas, it would be on California. Also, Texas can make relations with other countries, be part of the UN, and all of the federal stuff. |

Either way, Texas would have been annexed by the Union eventually (manifest destiny and whatnot).
So, essentialy, Texas joining the Union was a much more logical and peaceful decision. |

| @dralin Texas has the ability to fight back, what makes you say they are weak as some other countries? |

| If the US didn't intervene, Mexico would have controlled Texas. Also I dislike the idea of another government so I say it was a good move. |

Are you proving any points as to why Abe Lincoln would not send the army to take back Texas? No.

>Did the Texas Militia successfully freed Texas from Mexico? Yes ------------ With US aid they did, they were getting it @n@l before the aid.
>Did the militia fought off the Mexican invasion of 1842? Yes.. ----------- 1) It was now a nation 2) Texas was only 2 years away from joining the Union. |
