SoundService. You all know what is it, or at least I hope you do. Anyways, this is an idea that the mods probably can NOT make right now, but it would be interesting. You know how you can change the sound-Echo/Reverb to things like Cave, Underwater, Auditorium, Mountain, Plain, etc. right? Well, what I'm suggesting is a "World" reverb that changes per player, depending on their location. For example... Lets say I want players in the vicinity of (-256, 0, 1) to (-75, 20, 15) to (-8, 20, 14) to have the "Cave" reverb, but I want those at (-256, 21, 1) to (-75, 21, 15) to (-8, 21, 14) to have the "Mountain" reverb. This would, more or less, allow game creators to add so much more sound detail to their games, that it is almost life-like, allowing games and their sounds to evolve into something so grand that is has players on their knees begging for more. (Metaphorically speaking. It would be rather epic, though.)
Also, I'm gonna say this just cause I feel like it. Don't say that this is "Scriptable". Because I know it is not scripting for any kind of Multiplayer game. And if you think it is, then prove it to me or shut yer trap.
Again, though. This idea is probably impossible with ROBLOX's current technological level

=P To think of some uses... Any type of game could put it to use, from combat games; Thin-air type sound Reverberation for an excess of 560 Studs, and Underwater for those under; say; 20 on the Y-Axis. Or Scenic hangouts to have them for some scenic advantage, even MMORPG's could put it to use with High Mountains or Underground caves.

I did. There are probably some people who could script it out there. Some people know more lua than the mods do. x3

And yet it can't be done. Because "SoundService" is an entire game-wide thing, and not able to be specified to just a specific player. The only way I could think of would be adding a majorly complex script that set a tools sound to last longer/shorter and be louder or quieter depending on location. |

| An alternative which I think would be more flexible than your idea is having a local sound service. That way we arn't limited to box regions as we can use touched or other events to signal a new AmbientReverb type. |

Well, your not limited to "Box" regions. For instance, what I just used as an example is a Triangular Prism, not a Cube. Anyways, I like the add-on. Would be good to have for more complex things like a Circle or Octagon, or some Free-form shape. |

| This may make the server lag (I suck at building and scripting),because everybody will have a diffrent sound than the other. |

It's not a "Different sound" it's the same sound, but you hear it differently depending on where you are at. For example, if I was to swing a sword outside of a cave, I would hear it with whatever reverb I have; for example, Mountain. someone inside the cave, if they are within hearing distance, would hear it with a Cave reverb. Even though the sound itself would just be a flat -Bonk- if it was a wooden sword.

Area isn't necessarily "Brick shaped". It's... free-formed. Thanks for the support though, Grantox. |
