After SOPA and PIPA, we now have CISPA.
The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, abbreviated CISPA, is a proposed law. It would allow the US government to share information about Internet traffic.
The supposed aim of the bill is to help investigate cyber threats. The supposed aim, that is, because we all know that is obviously not their real aim..
In short, CISPA would allow private businesses and the government to share information about what they call "cyber threats". However, the bill is vague, dangerously vague, about what it considers as a cyber threat and about many other things as well. And a bill that is vague is a bill that can easily be abused. This is the case of CISPA.
If CISPA passed, companies could spy on the electronic communications of millions of users of the web. They could pass private information to the government. There are no rules about what data companies can collect and share, and, because of this, they can collect anything they want, because of the vagueness of the bill.
CISPA even offers immunity to companies as long as they act in what the bill calls "good faith" and removes all responsability from them.
This means that companies would be allowed to read your emails, know what websites you visit, access your download history and give all that data to the government. Not only these companies would know that private information, but the government would too. And the data received by the government would be passed to other governmental agencies. And they claim that would help them to investigate cyber threats. As if your emails and the files you downloaded were a form of cyber threat...
CISPA, as it is currently, would be harmful if is passed. It would harm more than it would help. It would not only be a nuisance, but it wouldn't either be a solution to any problem.
I tried to make this short because I know most users here on ROBLOX don't exactly like reading walls of text, but I still want you to be informed and that is why I posted this here in the first place.
CISPA must be stopped. Just like SOPA, just like PIPA.

Not exactly, but it's going to end with your private information being shared by companies and the government. Which you probably don't want.
I mean, you don't want a FBI agent to read your emails, do you? |

They already can - the FBI asks for information and emails, etc from companies like google.
If you read their transparency reports, google gives away and fulfills many of these requests. I'm sure other companies do the same.
However, the level of security of your emails is still fairly good. I don't like CISPA at all. |

Yes, but Google has the right to not give that information.
If the bill passes, the government just needs to suspect you of being a cyber threat and they can get all of your emails and information. They don't even need any proof, they just need to pretend you're a cyber threat and they can get all your information and share it with other governmental agencies.
I suggest looking up CISPA on Google. |

@Troyboy99
But the companies operating email services, file sharing and stuff do have access to these files. This would allow them to share such information. |
