Not to be a creeper.
It's for a game I'm making based of of Pro-Bending in Legend of Korra.
I need a way to find the gender of a player, so that we can dress them appropriatley
(Hair for benders and spectators, dresses or suits for spectators...)
So, is there a function for this... |

Oh, durr, I could just make a GUI that lets them choose... *sigh*
Ok, sorry guys.
I kind of wish there was one though, it'd be easier... |

@Flurite
I've found a lot of people do this in RPG's, really.
Knowing ROBLOX, to make it not creepy, you'd have design it like any other start of an RPG where you define your player.
Too bad anything on ROBLOX that involves a boy and girl situation is considered online dating.
maybe it's their social anxiety leaking through |

Why not just let the player wear the clothes he wants?
I mean, why force him to have certain clothes when you can just let him choose from ROBLOX's online catalog? |

What if you used the badge service and checked if they had one of the hats: http://www.roblox.com/Pinktastic-Hair-item?id=48474294 or http://www.roblox.com/Red-Roblox-Cap-item?id=48474313
Since every new account gets one of the hats. |

You can't even see that information on the site, let alone through the API. Go with using a GUI where they can select which they want.

Again, it won't be for creppy purposes...
The outfits will be uni-gender, spectators will have different clothes and hats.
Benders will have different styles of hair.
That's it. Now let's quit being creeps... |

@trappingnoobs
It's sad that you can just look at a person IRL and you (should) be able to figure it out, where as in roblox it's like harassment.
Maybe when you start out you'd have to go through like a character creation menu and just have radio buttons for stuff like gender, class, skills, etc.
Works perfectly. |

"Gender, class, skills"
Again, I'm just gonna make a "male or female" type GUI in the opening...
As for class and skills, there will be no different skills to learn, and your bending type will be randomly choosen each round you are chosen for. |

IF you're gonna make it like that, make it dramatic.

"Y u assume."
Sorry, I'm usually at OT, that's why :P
And, I'm thinking an opening GUI-
1. Legend of Korra decal
2. Pro-Bending Decal
3. (Who worked on it)
4. PLEASE SPECIFY YOU GENDER FOR COSMETIC PURPOSES
(Male/female buttons)
That way it won't be obnoxious and in the way as you play. |

You might also want to throw a BoolValue in there so that it doesn't pop up at you after. Or just use OnPlayerEntered().
