You don't need pairs or even LOOPS in general to paint a brick. Just use BrickColor, gosh.

@DX
And how will knowing about brick coloring give him the knowledge to make a script that detects EVERY brick that is really black? |

There must be a way. The only alternative I can think of is putting a script in every brick saying
"while true do if (script.Parent.BrickColor == "Really Black") then ... end wait (1) end"
And I have not often worked with brick color, so a part of that may be wrong.
As well, this would not apply to any newly created bricks.
I am not the best scripter, (Far from it) so I don't think I can really give the answer. |

if brick[i].BrickColor == "Really black" then
Not that hard. You don't have to remember codes, just the name of the color. Then you can do what ever you want with it.

Here is just a sample. I hope this is what you want. Try it out and tell me if it helps:
for _, v in pairs(game.Workspace:GetChildren()) do if v.ClassName == "Part" then if v.BrickColor == "Black" then v.BrickColor = BrickColor.new("White") end end end |

x = script.Parent
while true do if x.BrickColor == BrickColor.new("Really Black") then x.BrickColor = BrickColor.random()

Oh. Nevermind. That's not what you wanted, apparently.
I'm crazy, don't judge. |
