I honestly prefer Led Zeppelin live.
They drag out their songs like 10 minutes longer than usual.
John Bonham's improvisation.
Jimmy Page's improvisation.
Robert Plant just... idk.
J.P. Jonesy doing his thing. |

Metallica: Well, "Live Sh*t" didn't sound great. Lars sounds much better, which is one good thing. Of course, you can't hear Jason's bass. Then again, you can't hear it in the studio, either. Kirk's okay, but he's better on the studio versions. James sounds about average. He sounds okay. -- ~The Official Scout of OT and MT!~ |

Jimmy Page sounds a lot better since he actually is spicing it up rather than repeating the same thing every night.
John Bonham has to add his own fills since again... he didn't plan for the song being that long, and "Moby Di--" live is usually 12 - 20 minutes long.
Robert Plant... meh'
John Paul Jones... you can definitely hear the bass at "Royal Albert Hall" live. |

Led Zeppelin improvising sounds about as believable as Limp Bizkit recording an album comprised of howler monkey sounds featuring acoustic guitar playing by me and harp playing by Yoko Ono. just sayin'
and I have nothing else to say |

Abe, John Bonham did at least. (Jimmy Page probably has a load of riffs, he just throws them around I bet)
Each and every drum solo is different. |

| Then again, my definition of "improvisation" leads to free improv, which is definitely not what Led Zep is. They're blackened shoedrone with dark ambient touches! |

I know Lady Gaga isn't a band, but I'm going to use her anyway.
I love watching her LIVE more, because it's more interesting. The music might sound better in the studio on most cases, but that's only because she's up moving around doing crazy things that would take away from someone's vocal performance.
If she were to sit still I'd probably like the way she sings better live as well. Because Speechless live is way better than the studio version.
