Zygia - RPG Idea

Not one of the ordinary 'Oh look another monster LETS KILL' sort of RPG's but based on free roam, with a story twisted within main quests/side-quests.

Story:
It's the year 2109 and the first Time Machine has been created, the lab that it was successfully made in is an uncharted area known as 'Zygia'. Back in the medieval era, Zygia was one of the biggest trading centre of all the lands and was home to various different creatures/species. Unaware of the history of this place they ask you to venture into the Time Machine and see what it holds. A fault happens with the machine sending you back into the time-period of medieval Zygia and destroying the only way back in the process. The parts of the Time Machine got sucked through its own portal, leaving them to be found in the different areas of Zygia. The goal to make it back would be to survive AND collect the pieces.

It will consist of the greatest building and scripting ever seen before in an RPG game on ROBLOX.

Do you have any suggestions and/or ideas on what to make the game more:
- Fun
- Interesting
- ETC..

Hmm, looks like one of those 'Oh look another monster, LETS KILL' sort of RPG, but yeah, sounds cool.

Because, you do know that, all RPGs are basically 'Omg look a monster, LETS KILL' right?

Yeah, but if you think about it, half of the RPG's on here are complete garbage.
The rest mainly good scripting and average building.

A) Monsters (Obviously needed) - Planned for
B) Quests (Optional, but are very good to have) - Planned for
C) Cutting trees (Optional, but good way to make money) - Good idea, may include
D) Mining (Same as cutting trees) - Good idea, may include
E) Exploring (Gives the player something to do) - Planned for
F) Puzzles (Optional, but fun to have) - Good idea, will include
G) Have NPCs to talk to (See below) - Planned for
H) Random rewards (See below) - Planned for (as in each monster drops a different item, chests to be looted, random weapons/items found throughout the map.)

I don't see the point of a the 2106 (If i can remember) time era where you just go back in time,seems somewhat pointless,you'd best stick to one time.

Anyway im hoping that there's actual Ai in the Npcs (Non player characters) that there is no useless (Probbaly free modeled) script for a zombie.Most Npcs in rpgs just walk towards you like a brick wall,it's boring and unchallenging not to mention lazy.

Another point is that you don't add ridiculous lvl scales.Meaning people don't level up to level 250679 or something along those lines. You'd best stick to about lvl 60 max but surely nowhere over level 200.

A quick point is that you don't level up super fast,meaning you don't kill one emeny and level up about 5 times.But you don't make it unbeleivably slow possibly taking half your life to level up once. My advice here is that at level one,you have to kill about 5 emenies.

Futhermore, you'd best make it so there's no actual teleports to different areas,it changes the actual story of the game far too fast.Like one minute your fighting a wolf in the forrest,then after 5 minutes your fighting to save the world in space.Make it so there's a wide open space and different parts of the map have higher or lower level emenies.

One thing you could add is that if people are better at the game,they can fight very diffcuit emenies in the area,which make you level up faster.
And ! (Sorry for going on)
The most powerful weapons should never be able to be brought,only found in 'parts' so that you don't just kill the last boss and get the most powerful weapon.You might have to kill him serval times in order to gain the most powerful weapons and armour.

Best to stick with round numbers.
Then again having an odd number adds to mystery :P (Though it'll seem a bit pointless)

If you could work out some sort of turn-based random-encounter combat system, that'd be interesting. I don't necessarily like the idea of turn-based random-encounter combat systems but I like new things on roblox that haven't been done.

So using free-models would make it the best?

I'm doing the building, a close IRL friend is doing the scripting.
If we get stopped by a problem, we will edit things to work around it/work with it, OR just leave it a while and retry later.

Actually, no. Think of how many people tried to be the best. It didnt work out for 99.9% of them.

After about four years of working together, me and some of the best RPG makers in roblox have teamed up to actually make th ebest game. FOUR YEARS of working together.

Im not specifactly telling you to make the rpg in another time/place.
What im talking about is to stick to one idea within the game and not just randomly change the story,time or place dramtically.It'll cause confusion between players and i doubt they'll stick around to think why or how it contributes to the story.
I think what you are doing is fine.

Maybe you could make some sort of advanced currency system, maybe after picking up a random drop from a monster, you can sell it to a certain NPC in game. Hope this helped,

A currency system such as that would be good.
But to stop people spam-selling it what do you guys think about a weight system?

So the more you weigh the slower you walk until you come to the point where you have to drop something.

Have a sprint thing, and however much your carrying reduces your sprint time. Plus, dont slow the player down. When they peak, then make them very slow with no sprint.

Anything is possible. A COMPLETELY lag-free game on roblox is not. This is due to client's delay of networking and stuff.

Also, yes, I agree that groups working together on a game is not the best choice and gets scrapped 95% of the time on roblox, I'm aware of this and I'm trying hard to work on the group project for zero studios.

This sound like a very ambitius idea and I aggree a weight system like in all the major games would be nearly essential if you wanted to keepit realistic and this should go up with level but a skill system then would become ideal to pick and choose who you become which is undisputbile the point of an rpg game anyhow telll me if I can help in anyway I'm rather good with storylines just decent with building I'll admit not very good at scripting but making npc I can do very well anyhow really if you need my just message me.
