Yes, you do need joints. Either welds or stud/inlet works fine. To put them in you go to a bricks properties, and at the very bottom change surface joints. The best way for you would be to highlight every brick in your building, and change the properties of every single brick to either Top and Bottom weld, or Top studs and Bottom inlets.
