Hello. I'm going to bring up a topic that all newbies to programming face, asking questions. I quote from the cplusplus forum;
"Programmers have a reputation for meeting simple questions with what looks like hostility or arrogance. It sometimes looks like we're reflexively rude to newbies and the ignorant. But this isn't really true."
Do we all face this problem?
And more importantly, do we all suffer from this problem? Are we that hostile when answering questions? |

| I think it's a response to the fact that you can't ask a computer nicely. Asking people nicely isn't efficient and won't tell you anything since people are wrong, a lot. |

I asked the same question twice.
I'm going to join the circus now. |

| Actually, the circus would quickly decline your join application (if it could be called that) quickly if that was the reason for joining. The circus does look for rhetoric speakers, and not just those who appear as fools. |

| Arrogant? We're not arrogant, and anyone who disagrees is obviously an idiot, seeing as I can judge people like that. |

@Pighead
I asked a question, and you acted hostile.
Ha. |

^"The solution here is to add smileys."
You must have misinterpreted pig's post seeing as he forgot to add a smiley :) |

I generally get stuck using a certain smiley after every 3-10 lines to feel friendly. :D
Otherwise, I seem kinda mean. :D |

| If you can't answer nicely, then just don't answer at all. If you be rude to them, it doesn't set off a good impression of yourself to people who have not met you before. |

@above
What if somebody says something totally ridiculous like the 9-11 terrorist attacks was actually just a cloaked alien warfare and they shot the towers with plasma beams?
How do you correct something like that without sounding mean? |
