So Canada is in a huge debate over the F-35. First of all the Conservative government decided to lie about the price when they had there minority government, witch made it seem like a good deal. When they get there majority (witch may have been due to election fraud :P), they finnaly admited that the proce was 17 billion more then they said it was. Simple mistake right? They didn't know at first? WRONG. The defence minister knew since the begining the price of the units.
Okay so theres a scandal, okay what ever.
Now on to the real question... do we really need them? The F-35 is a stealth (witch will be obsolete in 5 years), supersonic air superiority fighter.
the SU-34 is not stealth, but super sonic, alot cheeper and is air superiority. Really all Canada needs.
The argument is that Canada would be buying from the "eniemie".... well thats what my dad said....
Also I love soviet/russian planes more then anyothers.... especialy Sukois...so maybe i'm just a bit baiest.
Kay so what do you think...

I feel as though German technology is superior to everything else.
Canada needs some Leopard A1A1's. |

| Sukhois are awesome planes but i doubt Russia would export them to a western country, the tech in them is still secret. |

Su-35 > F22
Su-47 Berkut? Sure, but it's a bit too big.

Canada using Russian planes? I'm sure they won't have any radio activated killswitches installed in them before export or anything. lol jk But really, that just ain't right, even if they are a sixth of the price of a F35. |

Still, I don't really like F35 or the F22. I just like the YF22 Black Widow, but the F22? Nah.
However, Su-35 > Su-34.
I'm not sure if the Su-34 has this, but Su-35 could target multiple targets up to 9 times, and has super ranged missiles. You should also watch some youtube videos of it actually maneuvering. There's this trick where they're able to just stop in mid-air.

It's true. I don't understand why Lockheed Martin has this obsession with stealth fighters that kill their pilots; when the Russians can build more able and SO MUCH CHEAPER fighters.
Also, the SU-34 is not all purpose, the SU-35 is, but they're not in wide scale production. |

4 Su-34s is a better investment than 1 F-35. |

Su-34s and Su-35s are better than F22s and F35s.

F35s are multirole fighters....
Su35s are purely for air combat.
And the F35s can target enemy jets from a farther distance, and most modern dogfights are estimated to take place with the combatants miles away from each other. |

@whufu;
That depends on the warheads, but the plane must be compatible too. Of course, the Su-35 is compatible with super-range warheads also, so I don't see why F-35's could win in this aspect.
Also, Su 35's are DESIGNED for air combat, and, with a trained pilot, would be very lethal. All F-35's can do is just Vertical Take Off.

Wow, so what magical guidance system is this you speak of where a standard Air- to- Air missile can take down a target miles away from it? F-35s are based on the idea that stealth= effective, which is completely wrong when it is comprising the capability of the aircraft. It's a complete false economy. |

Stealth does not grant you complete invulnerability. Pilot excellence does.

| Almost all modern aircraft can be used in many roles thanks to the flexibility of the weapons systems. |
