BASIC sucks.
If you want an old language use assembly. If you want an easier one use FORTRAN.

| This might be a stupid question, but BASIC == VB.NET? |

Just because it's old doesn't mean it isn't used all the time.
BASIC sucks because it teaches horrible programming habits. If you want a list of them I may give you one later. Try doing a google search in the meantime. |

| That doesn't matter. If you attempt later to learn other things you'll still carry on those habits. |

Yet someone shouldn't put himself it a cage of monkeys and live and speak with them for a few decades, because when he gets out it will be much harder to speak English.
True story. |

| In my opinion you'd be better off learning how to program in assembly than BASIC. Pretty much anything that can run BASIC can also be programmed directly in assembly too. |

That just shows your insecurity. Stop doing it or go away.
What Stravant said. Assembly can be used for any old device, and is much more fun and gives you a better understanding. |

BASIC sucks. And BTW, I don't think my calculator can handle Assembly when you type it directly into it (Although I hear it can actually handle it).
However, BASIC has this horrible thing called 'Goto', where that's the only way to repeat code besides rerunning another program, and......
Well, anyway... |

| SIGH. BASIC isn't used much any more. Do you think there is a reason for that? |

I use basic sometimes. In fact, I've got my TI-82 graphical calculator in front of me now.
I also used a variant of it to interact with some electronics one day at school. |

"By refusing to learn BASIC you're cutting yourself off from like all computers from the late 60s to mid 80s. That's like, when computing was at its peak. "
Crap! I'm losing about 15 potential people from my products! Oh dear! |

Programming calculators? Woah. Like, how fast is a calculator? Oh, looked it up, around 4mhz. How on earth could you put a game on that?
...
How do you even program a calculator?
... ... ... .................
o.o
Sorry, I only have knowledge on HTML and Lua. |

@Triston
No, how do you actually...Plug the calculator in? How does the calculator get hold of the code? |
