I've always found it strange that, even though I am smaller than some guys, I have the longest fingers in the school (including adults). I think I finally have the answer.
Quite a few of you know that I've spent a large portion of my life so far staying at home - working on my laptop all day long. In fact, I can see that the once silver, touch pad has lost its colour in an area - due to my finger constantly scraping on it. Similarly, my keyboard key's have lost their matte texture, and have become shiny and smooth - my fingers worn them away. You can clearly see the difference between a key I use a lot such as "a", in comparison to "F2" which looks just as new.
I am guessing I am a walking, breathing, example of evolution? |

| No, that's called "adaptation" and "your laptop is old". |

Not exactly, it may be very little due to the fact of your schedule, as evolution takes quite some time to actually 'kick in' from a change of natural environment. Humans are only now getting the ability to really stay home and do what they honestly need to do.
The speed of evolution is quite arbitrary, and it is impossible to pose a time frame for such change - so your situation is a possibility, and then it isn't. |

Evolution happens over the period of thousands of years. What you're experiencing isn't evolution because it hasn't changed your DNA to have long fingers, lol. It's either due to other genetic stuff or idk... maybe you grew your finger muscles or something...
this is such a weird topic xD |

Darn, was hoping to start a flame war...
Just kidding, but yes - I guess I have adapted. I couldn't reach the numbers keys without moving my hands out of their resting area when I was young - I can now, and reach the functions keys too!

And actually, long fingers are a trait passed down through parental DNA or their ancestry. This usually a common trait in musicians as well as mountaineers. Any that deals with finger strength or dexterity will be linked to a 'cause' for longer digits.

Nope, I am the tallest in my family. My father is not "that" tall, in comparison to my grandfather and uncle.
Anyway, I think I have longer fingers than my father too. If you look at the crest of my fingers - you would see that my fingerprints have been slightly eroded away. I can also freely squash my hand without feeling pain. |

You say nope like you are disagreeing with something I said. I never said anything about height. |

I thought height/body structure was related to digit size? Which is why I said this: "even though I am smaller than some guys". Maybe I was confusing it with something else. |

Have you ever thought of the possibility that you are in fact from Venus?
(There was a cult for the longest time that believed that all humanity's knowledge came from the intelligent life on Venus, and that Jesus was from Venus as well. I hope that cult doesn't exist anymore.) |

Doubt it, but I am hoping that I have "devolved". If I am devolving, then where is my tail?! Its not fair. D; [/Sarcasm] |

It's a wonder how your head stays on with that much hot air filling it. Careful how you generalize, as one can believe in certain faiths but also comprehend and agree with evolution itself or the change based on environmental quakes. |

What does religion have to do with this thread? I am just using the current accepted science to answer a phenomena. |

Funny thing. I am not an atheist, nor am I an agnostic. Not the mention that Emess happens to know that too.

| oh, i too have long fingers. to bad i don't do to many things aside from typing that long fingers may have an advantage in and i don't think finger length really matters when it comes to drawing which i do a LOT. |
