To be honest, the only mechanic I could think of regarding this is the Super Mario RPG battle mechanic, fused with a fighting game system like street fighter or marvel vs capcom. In my head I can see fit together pretty nicely. What do you guys think of? Think a genre called "Turn-based action rpg" would actually work? How do you think it would?

it's possible.
lock the camera, have a set of programmed ui action commands, and then animate. |

It'll be quite the challenge. But on roblox we have the ablitly to make any game. Though lag will be huge And will be pretty basic. |

| don't. having lots of players on a turn-based game = boredom. if it's turn based, it should be at least simultaneous. see for instance Scorched3D |

@RA2 Have you ever played super mario rpgs? It's definitely not boring. Mix that with some street fighter action (combos, specials execution, up up left right down u j k jump SMASH) Plus, it'd be pretty easy to make it a sorta singleplayer game, with Dark Souls/Demon Souls like interaction (local parts ftw) |

I don't think it woould be hard work. It's pretty simple if you think about it. To be honest, we considered doing this as a project, but then cancelled it because it wasn't interesting or engaging.

| When I learn more programming I will be making a Final Fantasy Tactics type RPG, which is some-what simular to what you're saying, I think. |

| There's been one made before, called "Lost Forest RPG" or something similar. The player was separated from the enemy by a clear barrier, and whenever the player swung his sword it would roll their damage. |

Yes, it is possible. And if you're getting at how to do it, then go to the scripting forum, they'll show you some starter scripts.

| RPG's are boring and repetitive and you cant create or build anything, and turn based makes it slow and boring. |

@Radio Then you haven't played a good turn-based RPG yet. Or you're not into slow games(chess, for instance). |
