Armstrong Rd. A young lady haunts railroad tracks. Her husband was killed on the way home from the war on the train. She was so devastated she stood on the tracks in front of a train. You have to go to the tracks and Stop on the tracks turn your vehicle off and honk your horn three times. Then you look down the tracks to see her searching for her husband you won`t see her only her lantern. It will be several different colors. Mississippi University for Women - Calloway Hall The ghost of Mary can be seen in the top floor window looking for her lost love. Sometimes she visits the freshman girls at night and sits on the edge of their beds to weep. Waverly Haunted by ghost of Major John Pytchlyn he has been seen riding his phantom horse near the estate. The image of Colonel Hampton has appeared in mirrors inside the home. Starting around 1964 the owners of this home started to see a apparition of a little girl. The child would leave indentations of her body on freshly made beds, and her voice can be heard crying the words "Mama. Mama!" |

Yep it's real all right. I dare you to go down to that crossing. That's not the only haunt at Armstrong. Decades ago, a school bus full of kids were going on a field trip. The bus driver took a short cut down armstrong Road. Somehow, the driver didn't see the train and went to cross the tracks. The train destroyed the bus. The bus driver and all of the young children were killed. They are said to haunt the train tracks as well as the lady with the lantern searching for her husband. |

Yes. I have been to these places and some say that the haunted woman with the lantern at Armstrong Road is actually a streetlamp that can vaguely be seen through the trees. Some versions of this tale say it is the far-off headlamp of the oncoming train.
It may not be true. |
