As of right now, I'm incredibly interested in the persona games and their premise, and like a giddy idiot, I feel like I wanna make a 2D game in the same vein as it. You know what? I'll cut to the chase, I'll just make it a persona fan game.
If you've never played any persona games before, the best way to put it is pokemon mixed with dungeon crawling, with a splash of simulators. The enemies were always shadows, and, ofcourse, it is up to only those who can wield a persona to use it. Most men are only capable of using a single persona, but some proved to be exceptions. These people are known to have the "Wild Card" ability, and their range of personas depend on their social links, the bonds he/she creates with people around him/her.
STORY: The basic concept of the fangame I've had in mind was simple: The MC(Let's call him En Shizuno) is practically a foreigner which was visiting his recently deceased grandparents from a mysterious illness which was becoming common in town. There are no symptoms to let them identify if they've been infected, and soon enough, you'll see them laying on the ground, dead. This 'illness' is later revealed to be seed of darkness, in which once a person is infected, it will devour this person's true nature, and soon, his/her's soul and mind. En has fallen sick with the illness too, but rather than killing him, it awakened a power inside him. A power to dive into people's hearts, to know if the seeds of darkness is present, and the power to extinguish it, the power we call, Persona. It's now a race against time as En tries to solve the mystery of the origin and truth behind these seeds.
EN: En is light-hearted man with a positive outlook in life, though if you were to choose frank options with him, he would most of the time convince others 'that he's born with a sharp tongue, so apologies beforehand".
GAMEPLAY:
Right, from the persona games I've seen, this aspect is generally split into two parts: Dungeon Crawling half, and the Simulator half.
For the Simulator half, it works about the same as P3P(seeing as I am not a genius programmer, or hardly know any programming at all, tuts ftw), you simply control the camera with the WASD buttons, and use the left mouse to interact, pressing the right mouse button would open up to the quick-access menu, if you don't want to navigate to the end of the map to enter a new area. The dialouge could have 'optional' choices too, choices that you could either decide to go along with or just leave alone, these optional choices pop up and many different moments, and might net you rewards OR punishment depending on you.
For the dungeon crawling half, you would explore it's dungeons in a top-down viewpoint, while fights happen in a 2d way. If you can't imagine properly, think of Nintendo's Mario RPGS for the ds, also the Paper Mario series, and you won't be so far off track. The system would be fairly similar to 4's however, there's a huge addition- the action points system.
There's also slight changes with the visual clues for En, since I want him to be more 'physical' compared to the other protagonist, his attacks would be executed by himself, don't worry, this is done to be accurate to his character.
SUB-GAMEPLAY: ACTION POINTS SYSTEM. Along with your health and mana, you are also supplied with action points. Action points is spent for almost every aspect of battle, allowing you to execute combos and attack different enemies or attack simultaneously with your allies in one turn! The more action points you have, the more actions you can do during your turn(See where I'm goin' at?). Though, you're not able to stack up much of the same attacks, but don't worry, you'll be able to combo more by the end of the game. Ending your turn and executing your attack nets you at least 1/6 of your total AP, while guarding will increase it by 1/5. Attacks strong against the enemy costs less AP while weak attacks costs twice as much AP. All-out attacks can suck all your AP away, but you'll immediately go into Guard position after your turn (though, you won't be able to gain AP). SUB-GAMEPLAY: STREAKS If you are able to exploit the enemies weakness multiple times consecutively, a bar would fill up, if the bar is filled and you choose to release it, all your attacks in the next turn would net a crit.
Bah, I know it's not good to create unoriginal stuff, but man, that was a load off my chest.

Should I continue on with this? I'm planning to make it with something other than roblox, since this needs sprites. |

(I'd like to show you guys some progress on this, but man, animation is hard- how would I do those special effects!? So I guess I'm just going to put this little prologue scenes for the game) -Ugh.. >You've seemed to wake up at peculiar area. >The place gives an impression of familiarity, though you are unable to make out anything from the dense fog surrounding you. >You try to move, yet you find that you've been bounded by chains. It seems to hold firm. There doesn't seem to be any means of escape, will you
be stuck here? ??=Everything is simply an illusion, my dear boy. ??=Though it is reality for you, isn't it? ??=Always be bound to these chains. Forever unmoving, will hat be your fate? ??=Such a pathetic, weak, man! You are a man destined for greatness, yet here you are, not even able to break these chains! Prove to me you are
the man to bring change, the an whose determination shall put things into motion! Release yourself! Release yourself from the shackles you've
created! >You tried tugging the chain, again, and again, and each time, it grew weaker. Finally the chain broke and dissipated. ??=My, for such few words, it sure made you go to great lengths. You're quite the simpleton. Though it is true that you're just what's needed. >The fog slowly lifts around you, slowly showing a beautiful interior of a train, draped in blue velvet. >The train activates, and you see a strange man sitting in front of you. ??=Welcome to the Velvet Room. ??=This place exists between dream and reality, mind and matter. ??=It vexes me that a being such as yourself, would be chosen for the contract. However, more pressing issues is at hand. Soon, a great mystery
shall present itself to you, a challenge only you can participate. ??=Many shall help you and many shall depend on you on your journey to the shrouded truth. That is the time you will be called upon this room again. ??=Oh! How rude of me, I've forgotten to Introduce myself, I am Igor, and I am here to simply be of your assistance. Igor= There is also another denizen in this room, though you shall meet in another time. Igor= Well then, until our next meeting. >Your vision seemed to fade.. >..... >..... >You hear a faint conversation. >"C-Can't you do anything for him!?" >"I'm sorry, miss, we've done everything we could.. Nothing even changed during the past month.." >"Don't give me excuses! Do you know what it's like-" >"Doctor, I think he's waking up!" >"Dear, can you hear me?" >Your vision slowly clears, showing you mother at your bedside Mother:"Finally.. You've woken up.." >She seems to be on the verge of tears. Mother:"Sleepy..head..!" ((Your mother hugs you tightly and cries.)) >.... >How long was I out? |
