Not necessarily.
A namesnipe is a single word, whether it's a scientific term, or one that we use everyday, it is the same.
i.e.
Abyssopelagic or Affirmed

If you actually would pay attention in English, or Geology, you'd understand both of those words.
And if you were enrolled in a class on weather, you'd understand cloud names.
