mdl may be a abbreviation of Model.

It's a variable like
mdl = game.Workspace.Model |

| It's more likely a variable though, it's passed as an argument in the function, there's not many cases where parameters are used in basic scripts like this one sounds like it is. |

Uhh I'm not sure if you can learn much from this:

It basically calls the parameters arguements through the whole thing |
