Here's a guide on what internet browser to use. I have all of them installed, so I know quite a lot about this.
Mozilla Firefox: Not the fastest browser, but it has better stability and security than other browsers. Pros: Very stable, effective anti-virus for downloads. Cons: May lag when over 6 tabs are simultaneously open. Best for: web programming, online games, multimedia content.
Google Chrome: Fast.that’s all about it. Pros: REALLY fast, good and simple interface. Cons: Sometimes unstable on slower computers, may lag when over 6 tabs are simultaneously opened, bad built-in flash plugin. Best for: websites that don’t have any multimedia content (like google, news sites, etc.)
Opera: Not fast, but stable.REALLY. Pros: Can run perfectly with over 10 tabs simultaneously open, rarely crashes. Cons: Slower than other browsers, bad download system, lags on heavy websites. Best for: having lots of tabs open simultaneously.
Safari: Apple’s worst creation. Pros: extremely stable and safe. Cons: extremely slow, lags when over 2 tabs are opened. Best for: Downloading things.(only if you have 2 hours of spare time)
Internet Explorer: Only for windows. Pros: can load old websites better than other browsers. Cons: not safe, crashes a lot, lags all the time. Best for: VERY old websites.

What are you talking about?
Google Chrome has apps and themes just like Mozilla does.

@flap: i never said anything about apps and extensions, i'm talking about the overall performance of the browsers.Chrome's built-in flash player is bad, while Firefox uses either a browser plugin, or the computer flash player plugin.
@predictability: you are quite right, but some VERY old sites (like my school website, that wasn't updated since 2006) can only load well in: IE 8 or older, FF 3.6 or older, Chrome 1.0 beta, and can't load in opera and safari.
I don't think you would download firefox 3.6 and spend hours looking for that version.I only have IE as an emergency browser and to enter my school website.
My computer is windows XP sp2, i don't know about windows 7. |

But Chrome got a perfect 100 on the Acid3, while Firefox only got a 97.

if it's better in flash, either you have windows 7/xp sp3 or mac, or you have the old chrome. it may change with different processors and RAMs too.
Flash plugins work better in firefox 8/9/10/11. |

adding to the original post: another IE cons is that it's engine is totally useless for games/videos. |

Another IE Con is that over three tabs will result in massive lag I've literally had to turn off my surge protector to turn off my computer once due to overwhelming lag that oh which I waited about 15 minutes for it to resolve; never did. |

IE doesn't crash for me when I have a bunch of tabs open.
Nor does it lag. |

| But Norton is in your computer. We're talking about browsers. Chrome and Firefox are faster than IE anyways. |

Well I have a new computer, (Dell Inspiron One) and Safari runs quite nice in W7. Good one for downloads and web developing. |

Sometimes. Depending on what you open, and what you're running besides GC. I like FireFox as an everyday browser, but Opera is great backup, and Safari is awesome for hackish things. Chrome can lag, like FireFox, if you open over 6 tabs with real websites (like youtube with a video running, game websites, ROBLOX...)
Now goes a poll: What browser do you use the most and why? |

"Depending on what you open" go to tvtropes and within half an hour you will have like 20 tabs up |
