I recently read a thread by Google about his perspective on the Clan World and I thought I might jump in.
What I believe is that we are getting lazier in terms of complication. Back in 2009 when Clans where starting to hit Groups themselves we noticed Clans only had a 9 Rank Limit when Clans had ranks from 10 to 20. When Clans left the Account Stage and started reaching into Groups themselves we never really had the idea to create two groups to continue the rank system such as High Rank groups we kind of see today.
I also noticed an idea that would really help out the creators of groups out in terms of finance, Ranked Uniforms or Badges for Sell. Back in 2009 we had Badges (As a T-Shirt) and Uniforms that represents ranks. For example if you where a Private you would wear the Private Uniform, however if you where a Corporal wearing a Colonel's Uniform you would be demoted and warned.
We seem to be leaving the complexity that made most clans fun to be in.
You want to know why Caleb10909's ROBLOX Elite Forces was such a success when he left Second in Command position of the original X-101st? It was because it was more difficult to rank up in and thus more interesting to be in! That is why Fourth in Command X101STCIA left the group with Caleb10909 to help grow The ROBLOX Elite Forces and end up going to war with the X-101st and thus starting RO-War II.
Clans are becoming weaker and more population based. Groups like VS as well as RAT are the closest to what clans are back then however they still take there fame from such a high population, which is why I am not a member of them right now.
If you want to know what clans where like back in 2009, look at groups such as The 45th Infantry Division and add a couple hundred members to them and there you have it, that is what REF was like and that is what X-101st was like.
Btw, I was at The Battle of Fort Mitch (Fort Mitch was the basis of of present day Fort Celeste of RAT.) and I know that LordNathan ended up retreating in the battle. Done said done, never ending up taking 100% control of the Fort, he may have got five soldiers inside the main building and grab some guns however he is not whom he says he was. Done.
