Both are a lot alike- both are found and taken into an isolated location, and wreak havoc there. The location is found by the main character who has to fight against the alien. Both pilot your body and can "move around" inside there and kill. I've only seen The Thing, (will play Dead Space soon) and so I'll give what makes The Thing dangerous, and what it can do.
1. Can infect you on a cellular level. Only one cell is needed to infect you.
2. The Thing absorbs you under two different stages- fast and slow.
3.During fast absorbation, it replaces you and pilots your body.
4.Under slow, it's not shown directly, but it's implied that you still have a lot of your sentience while being slowly absorbed. You are still able to be replaced, however.
5. May or may not have access to the entire world in the film's conclusion.
6. It is able to have more than one of it at a time.
7. Is able to co-ordinate revelations- if it realizes someone knows who it's replaced, it will reveal itself, causing a distraction for another Thing to perform necessary tasks
If I missed information, please let me know. It's weakness is fire |

| I guess I can't give my opinion I haven't watched The Thing, but The Necromorphs are pretty scary, and come in all shape and forms. I'm voting for The Necromorphs. |
