A super cool concept I thought of was a real time cloud render for ROBLOX. Now this may seem super complicated - it does too me. But I found a great article about it. The article can be found by going to the goo.gl link of: G4asD. The hardest part will be creating the vectors.
Once you have a area made, what you want to do is, like they did, render the 3D clouds using sprites. Now our option here is decals. We don't want to use billboardGUI's because they don't have the ability to change the Vertex color or change the transparency yet. So we'll do local parts. And we'll position them so in the background we have some nice clouds that are really 2D, and in the foreground some 3D clouds. The sprites should begin by being transparent except for the part that we want - which should be black. This creates a decal we can - using meshes change the vertex color of.
I think the lag might be a problem, but it sounds like each cloud (3D) will use around 25 - 100 parts. (The Article used 5 -400) We'll probably have like 10-20 clouds. So... maybe 2000 local parts.
Now we should start with 1 3D cloud. And these clouds can remain where they are for at least 30 seconds before moving slowly. The constantly updating one will be the ones in the background. Those will possibly take updating up too once per a second. We also have the problem of quick camera movement. But if limited too a first person view, we can update our rendered clouds so they always are facing / angled in the right way. We might use billboard GUI's for this.
Now inside of the clouds, we'll have small rotating whips that fade in and out to provide a moving feel.
If anyone would like to / be interested in this project, I need help. :D Let's make this a scripters forum project. :D

| Why not just add 50 billboards floating up in the air? |

| who gives a crap what the clouds look like, honestly, this is why our games always fail. we care too much about pathetic things like clouds and too little about actually making a game that's fun to play |

Not going to read the article in the link - but it seems interesting, however I prefer to do things my way.
Anyway, this seems more of a "fun" project if done outside of ROBLOX. Imagine, creating your own 3D renderer, with your own vector and 3D vector class. FUN! |

| Oh, you're talking 3D clouds. Boorrring. 2D clouds would be much more fun. |

@trappingnoobs
Because that's an aesthetic to the game... Making them look really good |

| Support +1 i guess :) but will the clouds keep going round a set path, will there be a parallaxing feature with different cloud depths, if they go out of the universe it will look a bit dodgy since its square. |
