| I have been programming in Visual Basic for a while now and wanted to get into the more HARDCORE programming. I do a bit of Roblox/Lua stuff but I wanted to know which of these above would be better to learn. Also, if you select one of the above, please give a tutorial or guide to learn it that would be good for a novice. |

| It's not really which is better, just which can be learned easier. But I suspect that a Scripters can get into an argument even from that... Also please refer a nice tutorial or guide for the Language of choice. |

They're very similar. I mean, the obstacles you're going to hit are going to learning to use OOP well and things like that - the syntax of either is not actually that large of an obstacles. You might have to deal with linkers and stupid things like that with C++.

(In terms of portability, they're also about equal...) |

| well .. surely C++ isn't friendly language to start with .. however java isn't that good with games .. take the mid way c# :P |
