| James Hetfield, Metallica's vocalist, does not scream. Kirk Hammett, their guitarist, plays a little more than nonsense |

Screamo is the one like that.
I think he meant Metallica, which is metal, and heavy metal.

Music: The art or science of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.
"beauty" "harmony"
Metal ~= either of those.

Oh yes. It takes someone with a PhD in music to google "music" and feel like they can actually defend an argument by doing so.
Screw off, swimguy. Really? You can't explain music through a god damn search engine. |

Fine then.
Music is a form of audible art created by the organized melodies and harmonies created by a voice of a person, instrument, or other means of creating sounds. The only somewhat-organized part of metal is the drummer, although they usually just use the double bass pedal to create an annoying, rapid pulse and crash the cymbals unneededly loud. The guitar is usually just some random chords (that I bet the guitarist can't even name) that are strummed extremely fast. The singer just yells and tears up the flesh in his throat producing unrecognizable whails and grunts, rarely making any sort of sense.
That's not music.
