With or without religion, people would be mindlessly arguing about how the world was created.

We would still be mindless ape-men chucking stones at caribou...
Remember, as much as you like to deny it, the greatest advancements in science have been in part thanks to religion... |

We'd be screwed. Religion may have been the result of the development of agriculture. Or, agriculture may have been the result of religion.

| Science came from the Church because there was nobody else who /could/ learn. Without the inhibitions of the Church, all of these developments would come a whole lot faster. |

@Paladir
Religion predates the agricultural revolution, and it seems to have been largely independent of any of those develeopments. |

| It would make no difference people would still fight over different things besides religion. This world is a greedy selfish and a never changing place. |

Shadow
You are wrong. A secular world would hasten human advancement, and in turn reduce violence geometrically. Compare the crime rates of secular Europe to those of the largely devout African societies. |

Well let's see...
The time spent in churches diverted to time spent making discoveries and pursuing endeavors that are actually worth it.
The money donated to churches diverted to money feeding the less fortunate people of our world.
The people, instead of praying for change, actually getting off their knees, and doing something constructive, and effective about it.
The fear of spending eternity in hell; removed from people worldwide.
The love of a certain deity redirected to love of other people
No Crusades, no Jihad, no 9/11, No Holocaust...
Oh man, imageine the world, without religion... |
