The answer is 288 because first you would add 9+3 (PEMDAS) then you would divide 48 by 2. Then you multiply both answers.
48/2=24 9+3=12 24 x 12 = 288 |

@Rainbows.
Wrong. The calculation is as follows:
48/2(9+3) 48/2*9+3 48/24 = 2 |

Bedmas.
48 ÷ 2 * (9+3)= 48 ÷ 2 * (12)= 48 ÷ 2 * 12= 48 ÷ 24= 2

48/2 = 24 distribute 24 to 9 and 3
24*9=216 24*3=72
216+72 = 288 |

@black No, multiplication and division go hand-in-hand. You do whatever is first, which would be division. |

You don't do multiplication before division, you do multiplication and division in the order of the problem
the same with addition and subtraction.
So, in reality, PEDMSA would be correct also.
But PEMDAS is fairly easy to remember.

You are all WRONG. The answer IS 2. For the answer to be 288, the sum would have to look like this:
(48/2)*(9+3) = ?
But it's not! It's 48/2*(9+3) = 2 |

PEMDAS: Parenthesis Exponents [Multiplication Division= can be switched] [Addition Subtraction= can be switched]
48/2(9+3)
1. Parenthesis comes before everything else
48/2(12)
2. Division comes first in this problem
14(12)
3. Multiplication is last in this problem
The final answer is 168

48 / 2(12)
which is basically
48 / 2 • 12
24 • 12
288 |
