But it wouldn't just be shooting people with no consequences. The more people you kill, the worse you perform and the slower you do things, and if wounded, the mission is over, you have to restart. And then it even goes to after the war where you play as a shell shocked veteran trying to recuperate.
You can't beat the post war campaign. |

also you can keep fighting without a gas mask in poison gas
but the mission is still a failure
and if you die you have to go back to the beginning one life only unless you play on easy |

Most people would be like "omg wheres da kilstrks" so it wouldn't be very popular with the youth.
HOWEVER, IF YOU WANT A REALISTIC FPS/VEHICLE SIMULATOR/EVERYTHING, play Battleground Europe. |

It may not get over well with the general public but I'd say it could be a cult classic. |

Sounds neat. It would be cool for matches that never end in multiplayer, like you keep charging each side until one side takes the other sides trench, then the surviving enemies have to retreat to their new trench. |

thanks
the first mission will be a trench raid on your position and you are the machine gunner
many killstreaks to be had
and every time a comrade dies in your unit you start to fight worse also
if you play on hard you get an impossible mission as the final one of the war |

but if you move you die because you got sniped |

| And nearly everyone you talk to speaks another language as they belong to another country's army. Apparently in WWI, there were so many armies that belonged to different countries, it was very difficult to find your own squad. |

Have a aerial dogfight mission.
Old-school, with biplanes.
That would make it 20% cooler than it already is. |

Wait wait, better idea.
You choose what date you joined the military, country and role like cavalry, infantry etc.
Then it skips over days, and the game randomly chooses a random event to take place, or something interesting that happens. Like going over the top, or an enemy offensive.

What about sections?
Like 5 minutes later, you're in a tank, then another 5 min. later, you're outside, running like hell to the nearest trench. |

fish
sounds good except you cant choose artillery
if you choose cavalry you fight on a horse your first few missions but then barbed wire means you cant so you fight in the trenches like everyone else until you get tanks |

You know there is a WW1 FPS though, I don't know much about it though.
It's called The Trench 1916.
Here's a description on the website.
HE TRENCH is a first person shooter video game on PC taking place during the First World War. You assume the role of a French foot soldier mobilized on the Verdun front. One of the main gameplay mechanics is that you begin the game 3 days before the German assault on the 21st February 1916.
This time allows you to prepare for the future assaults of the Germans. You can request field artillery placements on a precise zone, air support, Trench raiding and the positioning of foot soldiers in strategic places.
These 3 days will allow you to prepare the structure and the scene of the approaching battle.
This also offers the player an important level of replayability. |

| Sounds cool. But I would prefer one from Schlieffen Plan to Armistice Day. |

| You should include cool weapons and inventions made as well. The British invented a HUGE flamethrower that would distract and force the Germans into their trenches whilst the British advanced forward. |

Instead of mindlessly knifing people...
Smashing people with a lip on your tommy helmet [if you wear one], stabbing enemy with a bayonet, hitting people with the butt of a rifle etc.
But wouldn't major melee combat result in...Phycological problems later on? |
