## What Came First: The Chicken, or The Egg Many of you people will have hear of one of the biggest and possibly the most confusing unanswered question ever; What came first, the chicken or the egg? In fact, probably all of you will have. I have my reasons for my answer, but what do *you* think.
**My Reasons** I think the egg came first as I think it was a hollow rock, a volcanic egg, from the centre of the earth or somewhere in space, that has been here since the beginning of time, and from it, the chicken hatched, grew up, laid eggs, and so the cycle started again, and again.
> But what do *you* think? Reply to this forum post, and the debate will be shut on Wednesday 4th April 2012, where the results will be counted and a voted decision will be made about our debate.

@Dr
We're talking about philosophy. Sometimes answers that make no sense are given. It's how people answer really big questions among each other. And though what you said is true, we're debating about chickens and eggs.
>My reasons
The chicken is probably what came first. It was probably something BIGGER in the time of dinosaurs, but eventually it evolved to our modern-day egg-laying feathered friends. See, you can't just GET an egg out of nowhere. Chicken-like creatures probably appeared in the age of the dinosaurs, maybe before that. The logic behind my reasons is that, you can't HAVE eggs, unless they're layed. No meteorite egg will fall from the sky without breaking, so the chicken would be dead. Even if it hatched on another planet, no planet in our solar system can sustain life without the proper equipment. So the chicken PROBABLY came first and it layed eggs that hatched more chickens, then eventually it evolved into the chicken we know today. |

| What came first was the Species that later evolved into the Chicken. |

| And stuffer, your arguement implies that the chicken fared for itself, even though that in the beginning of time, earth was so hot from an explosion and meteorites that it was practically a molten wasteland. It also implies that there were no predators, which means that the chickens would over-populate and die. |

| Cow, you can't get an egg without a chicken. An egg won't just fall from the sky, so clearly, there was a prehistoric specimen that was chicken-like, and it eventually evolved into the farm and ranch birds we have today. So the chicken was made from nature or something, along with dinosaurs in that period of time. By staying near herbivores they were safer than they would be alone, because usually groups of herbivores, such as brachiosaurus or triceratops, are left alone by predators because they feared that they could kill them. Stegosaurus might also mix in there somewhere. >.> |

| I said chicken-LIKE in my first post. I might have left it out in the second one. The creature evolved into a chicken we have today over the course of time, and since the same species is laying the eggs, it simply hatched differently then eventually it genetically evolved into what we call a chicken today. |

" In the summer of 2010, British researchers cracked the eneggma when they discovered that the protein necessary to create the eggshell was found exclusively in the ovaries of the chicken. So the chicken had to come first, because the eggshell can't be made without that protein."

The pseudo-chicken came first, which laid the first egg, which hatched into the first chicken. So I guess you could say the egg came first, but it did not come out of nowhere.

We really can't even process that.
Though, if we really think about it, something or someone either had to have always existed or broke the laws of conservation and come out of nothing. |

Well...I guess it goes from simple to complex, so..
I think the egg came first, it is th simpler of the two |
