>wasting time in programming classes
the only classes I would even consider would be ones teaching functional languages. |

What a waste. Why sit bored in classes when you can teach yourself in a quarter of the time using the Internet than you would learn the language in classes? They probably don't even teach you much at all, just the basics... |

@Local
Exactly what I did in Web Page Design. We were barely taught HTML, then we went to Dreamweaver. But while she was 'teaching' HTML, I learned CSS and JavaScript and made awesome webpages that bewildered the class.
That was the crappiest excuse for a 'class' I've ever seen. We barely learned HTML. We didn't even begin to learn CSS or Javascript.

Classes are not bad, I actually enjoyed them. Never been to programming classes though - however, I doubt they are terrible.
I was thinking of enrolling to a Computing course - for my A-Level, but I already know 50% of the course from a book I got.

Visual Basic isn't really a good language to use in the first place. If you want a language that can take advantage of the same API that Visual Basic uses, try C#, which is C-based (and less insane). Or, if you're up for it, try C++, which is awesome once you get the hang of it. :) |

I'm learning it because it's been easy so far. I've already created a program that can crash sites (inb4banhammer) with it (and Batch) after one day of learning it, so I've figured its a pretty easy language. :3 |

Pfft, Visual Basic was my first language - and that was 7-8 years ago. I am 15, so I must have learned it when I was 8?

@MeBilly Don't... Visual Basic IDE basically creates all the code for you. |

| I'm enrolled for Comp Sci so I can get the college credits. I personally learn on my own anyways. |

| I'm in a beginning Java class this year. I earn college credit for it and it's an easy A for me. |

| I would definitely take a programming class in, say, C++, because being properly taught and self taught are completely different things. sure, if I had the choice I would skip the first few weeks, but they would teach you different stuff in a different way to what you already knew. |

| The closest I can get is taking an online course since my HS doesn't offer a programming class. |
