| I think it should be legalized only under the agreement of a family member or the victim I think this is legal in the Untied States though. |

@everyone in thread
NO NO NO NO! Elderly people are already being targeted for it. If this becomes legal, these problems may become very big

Can we get a website that isn't known for its blatant antisemitism?
Anyway, as long as you can prove the person who wants to die isn't just mentally ill, it should be legal. |

| If the person wants to be euthanized, let it say he wants to in his Will before a final decision is made. |

@Pepper
It's also pointed out in the article that someone who had written something like that in his living will changed his decision, but was disregarded by the medical staff who had (idk if earlier or later) deemed him unfit to make a decision

| The essay is, of course, based solely on anecdotal evidence. |

That isn't the only argument. Voluntary euthanasia can open up a slippery slope (although one that might take a long time, still). |

@Gamer You don't understand. People who want euthanisation suffer from painful diseases, living the last moments of their life in complete misery. I'd say it's much crueler to keep them on a bed, letting them suffer. |

| I fear that it will be abused. Doctors and patients have their own opinions, and each could opt to willfully ignore standards set by the government- and I don't think anyone would ever know it happened. |

^ That's exactly what I fear will happen. But I'm sure there could be laws put in place to stop this from happening. |

| Laws only punish it after it happens, is the problem. It doesn't stop it from happening necessarily. |

| I don't want healthy old people commiting suicide because they think they have nothing to live for. There should be a law that says on very certain registered speacalist who has to go through a police check and be checked once a week for it. |

"Activists often claim that laws against euthanasia and assisted suicide are government mandated suffering. But this claim would be similar to saying that laws against selling contaminated food are government mandated starvation.
Laws against euthanasia and assisted suicide are in place to prevent abuse and to protect people from unscrupulous doctors and others. They are not, and never have been, intended to make anyone suffer" - the ProCon page on this argument
