I don't know how injured the mouse is... it may be best to just kill it if it's suffering and has no path to survival. Or call the animal shelter or something,

There's an animal shelter in every town. Or call a vet, they can direct you to one. Or just google it "animal shelter (your town name)"

Explain the wound, is it a slash or puncture wound? The first thing you want to do is cover everything but the wound with a towel so the animal can't bite you. Then disinfect the wound since a cat's mouth holds a massive load of bacteria. Cover the wound with a non-glue based wrap, like an ace bandage around the wound with a linen pad covering the wound. Change the linen pad at least once a day.

Can it walk around? The cat instinctively goes for the neck region to paralyze it's target.

The wound punctured the spine, the best thing you can do is cover the wound with an ace bandage and a linen wrap to slow the bleeding. The mouse could be paralyzed but at least it won't die from bleeding out.

We decided if its still alive tomorrow we'll let the dog kill it, if its paralyzed then its best to put it down.

Do not touch the blood. You should have just left it.
Mice and rats can carry nasty diseases and viruses. |

Most of the viruses and bacterium are past by a bite or scratch. As long as he has gloves on and no cuts on his body parts that are touching the mouse, he should be fine. Also you don't want a dog to kill it because the dog can get sick or the mouse will have a slow and painful death, the best thing to do is take a knife and jam it into the brain steam of the mouse.
