I'm thinking of making the scariest game on roblox, through atmosphere, not sudden pop-ups.
What do YOU think make games scary?
Is it the sounds? Is it the atmosphere?
You tell it! |

Seems interesting. I think it's a mixture of both, to be honest. The following game by 1dev2 did scare me, slightly, although it achieved that through half-pop-ups, rather than atmosphere. http://www.roblox.com/F-E-A-R-First-Encounter-Assault-Recon-READ-DESC-place?id=21140258

| Go to Lighting in explorer. Look for ambience. Turn this to a dark color. (Perhaps black.) Voila, one of the ways to make your game scarier! |

| Darkness, unexpected zombies from behind, sounds... I think having like a shadow around your character/fog is good. |

| Oh, and also make transparent sensor blocks. If you know how to script you can make it so when you step on it it makes a pop-up of a scary face or something. PM me if you want me to script it for you. |

Way to scare the poop out of someone:
Make it seem like something is going after them.
Only way to do it. But not the normal stupid way. Make it like a lingering presence |

Cutscenes, Parts where you must run from hordes of undead, dark atmosphere, and pop-ups in the form of creatures.
Like a few parts of Condemned: Criminal Origins. Specifically the Mannequin scene and the part when the dead dude in the locker actually isn't dead yet and asks for help suddenly.
Also, make it seem kinda creepy by making stuff randomly move. Maybe a chair falls over the balcony above you, or suddenly a can falls of a shelf behind you. Make it feel like there is always someone behind you, after you.
Maybe areas where the creepiness dulls, but suddenly something happens that scares your pants off. Fake sense of security, then BANG! you got them terrified. |

I'm thinking of remaking Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Have any of you heard that game? I played it and it's really scary.
I'm thinking of making it like, story-based and will have LOTS of cutscenes and adrenaline, I think that the idea of something chasing you in the darkness with no way to attack is pretty scary...

Thanks guys! I especially like the 'Fake scary triggers' such as hissing noises, the random moving objects, the cutscenes, the fog, and the chases...
I'll make sure I add all of those elements.

That's all I've got right now.
I know I'm still missing the sounds and the monsters and the 'being chased' feeling, but still... I don't think it's scary, but please post feedback!
Post feedback please! |

It's looking great so far. My only concern is the following. When you get to the door where you must throw a crate at it, it's already wide open, and you can walk through it, and push the doors on their hinges. Apart from that, it look brilliant. I've added it to my favourites. :D |

@jackisback;
I wonder how it's already wide open, in solo mode it was locked perfectly, and then when you throw a crate, it opens...
All I did was add in glue to the 2 doors, lol. Gotta fix that... |

| Make a room at the end like a kids room with a huge bunny in it, then when you walk in the bunny blows up |

Make Doors that Close Behind you. Maybe you could add some Zombies in some Points that are Slow, Well Made and Move with C-Frame. You can't fight them but you can Escape, where the only way is a Room with Blood in it, then the Door Closes behind you and a Scary Cutscene starts, showing Blood Flow from the Walls and such.

I already have random objects moving when the player touches a trigger.
I'm gonna add an inventory GUI and the player to be able to pick up items, such as keys, needles, poisons, and more. Then, I'm gonna add more story elements, such as emails, letters, and cutscenes.
I'm working on AI scripts right now..
