That is not true, my brother had braces, never really brushed his teeth, and there fine.
It depends on you genetics.

Had braces a few years ago, my teeth are looking pretty great.
No, they don't hurt.
The first few days you have them, the braces will extract & get comfortable with your teeth, having to put pressure & making pain.
After that, you won't feel them.
