I find that I agree with some of the views in the books.

Lol. When my dad read the book he misunderstood it. He interpreted it as pro communist, because all the business leaders and innovators basically formed a commune.

It's more an anarchist capitalistic community... And if I recall, in the end they created a new government when the other one fell down.

Yes they did create a new government.

I honestly don't know what he read but he was off by a long shot.

Yeah... I wonder if he actually finished the book all the way lol. I had the fifty year anniversary copy and filled out the post card and sent it to the Ayn Rand institute for more information, I wanna know more about this. I'm also looking into other philosophical books. I want to read something else, but I'm not sure what to read though, I've decided to read the Bible next.

I'm not going to be reading the Bible in search of Faith. I'm reading it for the philosophy behind it. I personally don't believe in Jehovah.

Can I recommend reading some of F.A. Hayek's books?

Hayek is basically the Father of Austrian Economics. The Road to Serfdom is no doubt his most famous book. Perhaps you've heard about it?

Negative, I've only just gotten into philosophy and politics. I believe this is caused by all of my history and government teachers' need to teach us to get informed about the world and the likes. Maybe I'll convince my mum to buy Plato...

The only Plato book I've read is Phaedo. It's basically recognized as the first written argument in favor of the existence of a God. Since you seem to be looking for philosophy books, check it out.

And I believe Plato books are free, since they can't be copyrighted. I bought Phaedo electronically for free.

Just from looking at the Wikipedia article I can see it is one of the most idiotic things ever written, buying that books is like paying to be brainwashed. Read books that actually give arguments to why you should believe those ideas.

There's a BTAF strip that makes fun of this.

Actually, that strip is kind of stupid, because in the book it showed the people tilling their own farms.

The book is stupid, since it seems to imply that the titans of industry would have been able to get where they did without a workforce, or that the titans actually deserved what they 'earned'.

The book is stupid because Rand is a terrible writer, and a hypocrite.

I'll grant that there are a few who don't deserve what they've earned, and those are the trust funds the ones who inherited it with little effort on their part. Titans of Industry wouldn't have too much difficulty in learning to plow or plant or hunt.

She isn't a terrible writer, but she isn't a great writer. She's mediocre at worst. I'll give you that she's a hypocrite.

Why a hypocrite? Not challenging you, just want to hear what you have to say.
