Most RPs barely make it out of the stable and drop at 3 pages before
To keep this from happening to your amazing and well thought out ideas, let's have a little round-table discussion about how to construct a good RP that lasts.
For me, letting the people add in their own ideas to the roleplay is really important. If you just give pre-set elements without any chance for another person to contribute in their CSs, then the RP is going to flop. |

"Simplicity."
There IS a point where it gets so simple that there's not enough information to actually run a good thread, but yeah. No one's really going to bother to read a great text wall of China on a role-play and would rather want a short explanation. |

I'm glad you agree with me.
It's also the activity of the other players, that determine the life of RPs. |

| Yeah, on this board when you post a thread RP you're basically rolling a dice. Sometimes you get good roleplayers that are fun to work with, sometimes you get the uncooperative, sometimes you get no one at all because no one's really online by chance. |

| Original ideas? I've had this time travel idea for a while but it doesn't seem like it would work out.... |

Detail.
And mystery. I'm not implying that the whole RP should be mystery, but you should leave one or two details anonymous; the RPers would be given the privilege to unravel these secrets throughout the RP. |

| I personally think detail is just a spice. If you use too much of it, it suddenly becomes a giant wordwall. |

Word-walls are okay. :P
Besides, detail specifies what you're trying to get across. And it gives readers a clear understanding of the situation or whatever is being described. |

I wasn't saying it was bad or anything, I was just saying it could be irritating/intimidating to some readers.
And yes, it could give a clearer understanding to the reading, and what you are trying to get at. Detail is a double edged sword, it can either help, or hurt a piece of writing. |

But so can simplicity.
How do I know this?
Because it's happened to my RPs/ |
