We make a constantly updated Database. We'll call it, the POCC, which stands for Profanity OD Chain-Letter Catcher...... Here's how it will work: Now, when ROBLOX first makes the Database, they put in all the things they know are bad, like, basically, the current ones. Then, they send a forum to each user that has logged in to their account for the past 7 days. It will say:
Please put in ways to get around the bad-word filter:
--They put them here--
_________________
Please put in chain-letters:
EX: Copy and Paste this .... times on a .... and get ....! The .... stand for missing characters, meaning, it can be ANYTHING.
--They put them here--
_________________
Please put in OD words:
--Put them here--
_________________
Now, when they click "Enter", it will go into the "Sifter". It will sift things that are alike. When entries are at least 10 characters alike 3 times, it will be added to the Database; if they aren't already there. If they have ...., it will do the same thing above.
Finally, when someone says something ANYWHERE on ROBLOX that is in the Database, it will catch them. Now, since the Database is filled with kid entries, it will have the latest way of getting around the filter. Now, it will update the Database every month, making it constantly up in the race against rule-breakers. Now, about the ones with the ....'s, if someone says anything within those perimeters, it will catch them, causing less "Chain-Letters", or as we all know it as, spam. It will also remove any previously made comments/forums that happen to cause an alarm in the POCC.
If you find any Loop-Holes in this, please tell me.

I really don't know whether to support this or not. I mean really... it's... just plain weird.

I disagree on the basis that this idea is abusable, that it emphasizes harsh moderation, and that it makes the rules unclear. This idea brings a quote to mind (but I forget its exact wording or who said it... so it's really just an idea): The difficulty of security is not keeping all the bad things out - it's letting the good things through.
This idea is highly abusable. While looking for 3 users reporting the same thing is a good step, what if you have 3 alts or two friends? You now have full control over the filter. You can add any word you'd like into the filter. What if you use that power? ODers use the word "and", right? Better get rid of it. I don't see any easy solution to this problem: you cannot make a whitelist of words, so you can't effectively stop people from doing this. I suppose you could moderate what everyone puts, but that would take a monumental amount of manpower.
Even those without malicious intent can cause evil through this system. I'm positive that, unless the words "boy", "girl", "man", and "woman" are given special protection, they will be constantly reported by users as ODing words - Roblox users take the rules against ODing to ridiculous extremes. Those are just examples - I'm sure that there are many perfectly innocent words that will get removed as a result of this system. The moderators and administrators who are comptent should have full control of the rules because they won't take things too far.
Finally, with this idea, users no longer know the rules. Right now, we have to deal with the filter on the forum which blocks our post without telling us why. With this idea, we won't have the faintest CLUE what we did wrong, and the rules would be constantly changing. How could we avoid everything in the database when it changes so quickly? We shouldn't be getting in an arms race with rulebreakers, because it'll leave legitimate users behind.
(Also, as always, the idea behind these criticisms is so that you can revise your idea to fix the issues) |

@Varp
It wasn't a filter. They get checked by the administrators after they go through. |

Support. You know how most people get past? Like this. Read first letter of every word.
Finished University Cradles Kansas.
See? Easy to get around.
Or like this:
l) /-\ l\/l l\l
SO EASY TO BYPASS THIS FILTER! Don't report, I'm just giving examples. |

"It wasn't a filter. They get checked by the administrators after they go through."
I still disagree since it still encourages over-moderation (when the moderatoration team isn't even capable of thinking of all the rules they'd like, that's a good sign they want too much). While that would still leave the moderators in control (at a high cost in man-hours), the spirit of this idea is to block more things and to make the rules stricter. With this idea, inaction by the moderation team actually leads to rules that are too harsh, rather than rules that aren't enforced. We have to take incredible care when we start to create more rules because we can easily undermine all communications on Roblox through paranoia, and this idea goes against that. |

You probably have a better chance of being heard if you use Roblox's uservoice thing:

| This already exists. There is a "learning filter" that automatically learns new inappropriate phrases over time and blocks them, and there is a black list that automatically blocks any phrases containing a list of certain words. |

A learning filter?
I'm curious as to how a filter detects inappropriate phrases. :3

@chaosespeon
I don't know how it works, but it adapts to new types of inappropriate phrases over time and helps prevent filter-bypassing. |
