(*Section 1: Your Empire.*)
If you are reading this, you are probably part of the Potentian Empire, and would like to know what this is all about. This guide will focus on three main aspects of our group: Ranks, Respect, and Drill. Here is a Subsection on Ranks.
Subsection 1.a: How to address your peers.
With any organized and needless to say civilized group, you need to know how to speak to those around you without causing offense. If you should ever accidently insult or offend a peer, apoligize, we will forgive you. When talking to your group members, be mindful of your words. They do hurt people, and may cause them great pain. If you are ever spoken to in an offensive way and the offender is not mindful of your pain, let them know. If they do not apologize, speak to a General or The Emperor.
Subsection 1.b: How to address your superiors.
If you have forgotten, this is a war clan. However, in war, without leaders you will not prevail. Being a leader is simple; anyone can do it. However, the Brigadier Staff and General Staff are distinguished leaders, and therefore must be treated as such. When addressing your superiors, do not be tense. We are just like you; we enjoy a good laugh, can make the odd smiley, and hate when people spawn kill us. However, there are times to relax, and there are times to be a soldier. Remember to always be mindful of what you say, especially when you are around the high ranks.
(*Section 2: The Wall*)
The group wall is an INVALUABLE tool for communicating our thoughts. However, this is not a toy, and must be kept serious and peaceful at all times.
Subsection 2.a: Is my comment offensive?
Before you hit that "Post" button, remember to look over what you are about to post. Is it offensive? Are you sure nobody will be insulted by it? These are things you must always remember and check for, it may just save you your place in the Empire.
Subsection 2.b: Is my comment appropriate?
We are all kids here, and still have much to learn. We should never post inappropriate or vulgar things on the wall. If you do, it will be deleted indefinitely, and you will also be reprimanded.
Subsection 2.c: Is my comment acceptable?
You may not have broken a rule, but there are still limits to what we will and won't take from our members. Don't try to get around the rules; you’ll only end up in bigger trouble.
(*Section 3: Empire gatherings.*)
As you may know, we in our empire meet many times a week to train and discuss issues. These are an important tool in keeping our Empire enjoyable to be in, therefore attendance is MANDATORY. If you are caught not showing up to a gathering you will be demoted or reprimanded.
Subsection 3.a: Trainings.
Trainings are more than necessary in any group; it helps us get better at our weaknesses and control our strengths, allowing us to more swiftly crush our enemies. You will not immediately be punished for failure to attend; But miss too many and you will be demoted.
Subsection 3.b: Raids.
If you are called upon to raid an enemy or defend from our enemies, you MUST show up regardless of your plans. This is an EMERGENCY, and must be treated as such. It is war; we need to fight, and we can't fight well if barely anybody shows up.
Subsection 3.c: Meetings.
The name speaks for itself; we meet and we discuss issues in the group. You do not have to show up unless instructed, other than that you can stay in your game. However, it will benefit you greatly to come, as we will be discussing things you will want to know.
(*Section 4: Drill.*)
Drill is the practice of parade movements: Marching, saluting, and many other things. Many other things that we will practice in our Empire.
Subsection 4.a: Saluting.
The salute is the most honorable tool of showing respect; in saluting an officer you show that you understand his rank, accept his command and acknowledge the fact that you must listen to him. There are rules to saluting and ranks, however, and I will display them for you here.
If you are a PFC, in a room with four Corporals, two Sergeants and a Colonel, if I (General) walk in, the person nearest to the door must call "ROOM!” At that time, everyone in the room must be quiet, and stop moving. You drop any weapon you have out, and wait. When I say "Relax", you can continue.
If you are called somewhere, and you encounter an officer, you march up in front of him, stop in front of him (facing him of course), and you salute. You do not drop your arm until the officer does. Then you say your rank, your name, and your status. Example: "Corporal Rex reporting as ordered sir." Remember your statuses; reporting as ordered, reporting for duty, reporting for training.
Subsection 4.b: Parade.
If someone is promoted, we will go on parade and celebrate it. On parade, you get into groups, or flights, in rows. Here is a layout of a typical group of four flights:
(CO) XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX
XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX
In flight, you do not move or speak. We will add a tool soon for a "prove", an action like putting your hand up, so you may ask questions and comments.
Subsection 4.c: Asking permission.
If you should enter a room, and there is an officer inside, you halt at the doorway, salute (if you can) and say; "Permission to enter Sir/Ma'am/ [rank]".
If you need to leave the game or room, you go up to the officer, and tell them why. Then, if you need to leave the room, go to the door, face inside the room, and say; "Permission to carry on Sir/Ma'am/ [rank]". If you need to leave the game, do the same, then simply walk away and leave.
(*Section 5: Respect.*)
If someone is a Division Commander, they are for a reason; They have an invaluable skill that the Empire needs, (Lieutenant General Searing is a great builder, General Makrov4 is a noble swordfighter, etc.) and so by presenting that skill in a humble manner they are rewarded. Becuase they are so valuable they must be treated as such.
Subsection 5.a: Talking to a higher rank.
If someone is a higher rank than you, treat them with respect. However, there is a way you need to talk to them and address them. If the person you are addressing is UNDER the rank of Colonel, call them by their rank. Example: I am a Corporal. I enter a room with a Colonel in it. I say; "Permission to enter, Colonel." Simple as that.
Subsection 5.b: Talking to the General Staff.
When talking to the General Staff, be respectful, as always. You must always call a General or Lt. General SIR.
Subsection 5.c: Talking to The Emperor.
Talking to the Emperor is like talking to God; you always watch that you make no mistake. The Emperor is kind and forgiving; he will accept that we all have weakness. You may make a mistake or slip, but be sure to know that you are in the presence of you supreme lord. Remember that.
Subsection 5.d: Talking to your rank.
Your rank is your brotherhood. You are all connected, and be sure to treat each other like that. Do not be insulting, or critical. They are your brothers; will help you and care for you if need be, so be sure to pay them back in kind.
Subsection 5.e: Dealing with an internal issue.
If you have an issue with someone or something in the group, send a messgae to The Emperor or a General. We'll deal with it.
(*Section 6: Punishments.*) If you break a rule, you will be punished.
Subsection 6.a: Actions taken against infractions.
Reprimand: You will not be able to get a promotion for a set time. Demotion: You will go down one or more ranks. Acknowledgement: You will be put on trial in front of our group and sentenced.
I hope this guide has helped all of you who read it, and that you may remember that the Empire you serve is the one that will help you on your way.
