Just stupid idea I thought of just now. Maybe we could have the ability to use custom normal maps in decals, shirts, and pants? Since normal maps are used to create an "illusionary" 3D effect on low-poly objects without making it more complex, I thought it'd be an interesting idea. Certainly at the very least it'll allow for more creativity, and would make some people shut up about meshes to an extent.

"I think you should be able to upload it." -- That was my whole point. I guess I could have been a bit clearer on that, however.

| This is poorly written, I really don't even know what you're trying to suggest. |

Normal maps are textures that give a pseudo-3D look without using a mesh. So that that model it's applied to doesn't increase in poly count and valuable computer resources are spared in rendering and tracking the object. Having normal maps in shirts and pants will allow us to have our own "Meshes" - per se - allowing your to make the, say, bullet proof vest in your group armor pop-out from the background of the image. If you need an example of normal maps, look at the brick materials, such as ice. It seems to have a 3D texture to it, but in fact it doesn't use a mesh. And thus the poly count between it and any other brick of a different material is the same.
I'm not sure how to explain it any better. So Google it if you still don't understand.
