watch totalhalibut's video about it. it's simple. 20 minutes, but it's worth it.
basically:
it could take down youtube, wikidpedia, facebook, etc., thus destroying the internet, and many more industries including small music companies, yahoo, and other basic news sites. |

listening to totalhalibut's video, he said they don't understand what they're talking about.
50-something to 70-something year olds talking about stuff that they don't even know.
this would stop innovation, more technological advances, and such.
it's so dumb. |

| They may have brains, but they know about computers as much as your puppy. They see "Stop piracy" and think "Oh wow, I like this!" and can't understand the consequences it has on technology, the Domain Name System, internet service providers (ISPs), deep-packet inspection, and other internal internet functions. Under SOPA, the company that gives you the internet has to inspect all your data (yes, ALL data transmitted via the internet) VERY thoroughly using deep-packet inspection to look for pirated material. |

using totalhalibut's analogy,
this is like getting babies to drive ALL the 747s in the world.
that's what the congressmen are like. |

| They feel that piracy needs to be stopped. Which I completely agree with. That's the main reason congress came up with this. They aren't out to get us, they just want piracy stopped. |
