Recently, I have been doing a lot of thinking on what kind of business man commands my respect. I've arrived at the following conclusion.

I can admire the man who builds his fortune inside the laws and regulations, the kind of man who who cares about his employees, and he cares about his consumers. The kind of man who knows that money is only the means to an end. The kind of man who WANTS his employees to better themselves.

There are only two kinds of buissness people I don't like. The kind that encourages "brotherly love" and the kind that builds their fortune outside of the laws and regulations. They are both equally dangerous.

The first is the kind that I will call a Communist business man, but this is a misnomer, as in Communism, everything belongs to the people, to the public. There is no such thing as private property. The first kind encourages you to work harder to support those who can not or will not support themselves. The currency of this business is "need". I myself am a firm believer in the belief that the only man that "needs" help is the kind of man that will repay the one who helps him.

The other kind of business man I despise, the kind that I would say is the worst of the two, is the one who builds his fortune simply to build it and does it outside of the law. He is the business man who hires the illegal immigrant because he is cheaper then the legal citizen. The kind of man that says, "Don't think, or you will get fired," the kind of man who wants to keep his employees stupid, the one who doesn't care what they produce and whether it will harm their consumers or not.

It is my personal belief that these two kinds of business people are the root of our economic problems today. I'll say the blame lays more at the feet of the second kind than the first kind, however this is only partially true. The first kind if they stuck to their own morals would simply freeze the way the economy is. The second kind are the kind that led to the ruination of our economy.

It's unfair however to blame just the business people. There were other factors involved as well, one such being the government. The government has been a little too comfortable in my honest opinion reaching into the pocket books of certain corporations and taking their money, and when they get elected later on, they pass laws in favor of those corporations. This is neither proper nor is it just. It feeds the fuel of conspiracy theorists and gives more lee-way to those who wish for economic equality, because after all, everybody is making the same amount of money, and thus nobody can donate more than the other to a politician and get favorable laws passed.

I find myself more for economic inequality because to me, the cash is a motivation to do better, now I've been told that the cash isn't the main motivation for some people, it's more motivation from other things like a higher purpose. I believe that money can be used for higher purposes as well. It has been used to fund research for life saving cures, it has been used to build homes in other countries that "need" it to better themselves. I like to think that when it comes to economy and business, I would wish to follow Carnagie's style, for those of you unsure of what that is, he preached that you must spend 1/3 or so of your life learning all you can, 1/3 of your life applying that and making all the money you can, and the last 1/3 of your life, giving that money away to charities.

Let me speak my beliefs now on society.

In today's societies, most of them follow the pyramid of "Society (being the biggest thing, and the base of the pyramid) Friends and Family (being the middle section) and finally Self." I find myself disagreeing with this structure. I believe it should go, "Friends and Family (at the base, it is the biggest, and has the most impact.), Self (being the middle), and THEN Society being at the top." This may seem opposite to what I've said before, about the kind of business man that I like. This is far from true, for the business man that were to follow my thinking would know that he can use his money to better provide for his friends and his family, while still being able to care about the products he provides for his society, because if he provides QUALITY products, more people will buy them, and the flow of cash will increase, and then he will be able to provide for his family and friends. According to this thought, it is in the business man's best interests to make the best products possible to provide for his family and friends better.

My thoughts have been influenced by a multitude of thinkers. Among them, and scoff if you will are Ayn Rand, Andrew Carnagie, Henry David Thoreau, and Ralph Walter Emerson, as well as Dante Allegheri. But those aren't the only "thinkers" that have helped shaped my thoughts. My history teachers have, my family has, and most importantly, the people here, on WWC have helped shaped it. Thank you.

My full opinion?

If they want to come to our country to better themselves and their families, make them a legal citizen of the United States.

What about hiring them?

If it weren't for illegal immigrants, prices for food and other services would sky rocket. They have a better work ethic than most Americans do.

That and it usually takes 5 years to find out if they can become citizens or not, waiting 5 years to find out you've been rejected doesn't sound very promising.

You mean as in issuing more work permits?

That's what I've been pushing for.

What would disqualify them from being a citizen?

And I want to say before this topic gets de-railed, as it usually does, I'm merely wishing for people's feedback on my ideas, I don't want this thread to become a all about immigration laws and what nots.

Yes I enjoy cats highly, however, this is not the topic we are discussing. We are discussing philosophical views.

>Which is why we need a guest worker program.

It's more of a reason why agriculture should be decentralized.

>The first is the kind that I will call a Communist business man, but this is a misnomer, as in Communism, everything belongs to the people, to the public. There is no such thing as private property.

That's silly. Private property just refers to capital, it doesn't refer to what you possess. Your shirt, bed, or house will still be yours.

Money motivates people, sure, but it's not a good replacement for genuine desire to succeed in a field, or genuine desire to find a solution to a problem. The fact that money is used to fund humanitarian projects is also in no way a good justification for its existence.

The rest of the essay is just meanderings about the profit-motive, which borderlines on the absurd, and is just a retelling of Econ 101 BS.
