| Hey guys. I was just asking do coders take breaks? I mean, I was coding, and this game just got a craving to me that I don't wanna code anymore and I just wanna play this game. I don't know what to do! One hand I feel to play this game, can't think about it. On the other hand I might forget about Lua and all the others. I don't know what to do. Have you been in this position before? |

Yeah. I stopped playing ROBLOX for a few months and then I came back. When you learn a language it *sticks* in your head (at least for me). I only forgot a few minor details (things like .p, some raycasting stuff, etcetera).

This is how my life goes: *codes for 4 hours* *takes 2 week break* *thinks "hmm, I haven't worked on that in a while"* *repeat*

If it's Skyrim, it's perfectly normal and happens to (nearly, darn haters) everyone.

What will happen is you'll see something in the game and think to yourself "Hey that's cool! I'm gonna make that!" and make it on Roblox.
At least, that's how my Compass, Radar, and Inventory system all came about.

| Essentially, if you really love coding, you'll always eventually come back. But, if you don't wanna play, don't. it's better to be safe than sorry. |

"@yacker
What you saying?"
If you're a coder at heart (and like ROBLOX), you will come back. |

@neversafe: exactly. Perfect translation. I wasn't trying to make it sound like you were a bad scripter, Miz. Not at all what I set out to do. |

I code, I code, I code....

I'm always in that boat. There were points where I didn't work on one of my games for at least three weeks, but then I thought about how cool it would be, so I started working on it again.
I've made a routine to keep myself on track with all my projects. I just assign a different project to each day. For example, I have a certain game to work on each Sunday, a different game on Monday, and so on. Except since I only have 6 main projects, I give myself Thursday as a break (or free choice). |

| Go in the scripters forum, and ask how many of them have actually finished a major project :D |

@blockoo
"i always get bored and can never finish one"
"i think about the building and i give up for a short while and then come back rinse wash repeat"
Etcetera. The same exact thing goes for me.

Hint: Take a break, check the forums. Help out, you will not lose your knowledge or interest this way.

And about the building thing, I have that issue too. I'm coding this awesome project that will be really fun to play, and then...
I remember I have to build all of it. Then, I think about making a terrain generating program, and remember that I'm not advanced enough.
Rinse, wash, repeat, as I said before.
