Hey everyone, I need some advice... I'm really interested in the topic of Lucid Dreaming, for those of you who don't know it's where you can control your dream. I would love to be able to do that, I almost did once but it got all messed up. I was reading about lucid dreaming and saw many cases of "Sleep Paralysis", this is where your mind awakes from your dream but your nervous system is still off. Meaning, when your run in your dream, your nervous system shutdown so you don't move in real life. You can't move, you can't talk. Also, there are reports of during Sleep Paralysis to see monsters or ghosts or something like that. Reports of something sitting on your chest (actually just some of your nervous system or some other bodily function shutting down) but vivid memories of abductions by aliens and seeing creatures/monsters in your room. All of these are fake but like in a dream, you don't know. Also, one EXTREMELY common report of seeing a shadowy man in your room. Some reports of him standing in the corner, others of him zig zagging and popping up infront of you to make you scream but you cant awake. I just want advice from any of you who HAVE had Sleep Paralysis. Thanks. |

| I looked up your symptom, dc. Too bad there was imagery on the website so I left before I got to your part. There was a similar story, someone hold a loud devlish growling but his covers were over his head so he couldnt see. He tried to scream but it felt like someone was choking him (it's common because you can't talk in your sleep, i guess that's what it felt like) but when he was able to talk, he screamed bloody murder for help but nobody heard him. The next morning his mom confirmed that she walked back and forth passed him room and never heard him. It can be part of the hallucination symptoms I guess, did you see any imagery and do you think lucid dreaming is worth that risk of Sleep Paralysis? |

| No. Night Terrors are when you're asleep and have terrible dreams, nightmares but worse, and you scream but can't escape but you usually don't remember when you wake up. This is being awake but your body is off and there are FREAKY reports and imagery of it. You're awake but you can't do ANYTHING and you start to hallucinate. You can't escape. Similar to night terrors, in a way, but these can happen to anyone and can be much scarier as they are in your room while your asleep according to your mind, and you can't do anything about it. |

@Ethan, what do you mean he doesnt go away o.e and you see him too?
@Fang, night terrors or sleep paralysis? SP are mainly reported from teens i think, maybe young adults, but NTs are from adults mainly I thought. |

If you want to have lucid dreams, play more video games
Studies show gamers have a higher number of lucid dreams |

| Anyone who has had lucid dreams and sleep paralysis, please post your experience here. I'm trying to get a lot of info on it before I try lucid dreaming. |

Once it happened to me I felt like I was being stretched out and it was really painful but I couldn't do anything And I saw a monster enter my room... That was really scary; I didn't sleep good for the next week The monster..oh gosh. It was really real I could hear it and feel the vibrations of it walking. |

| Once I tried Lucid Dreaming. Sadly it was Sleep Paralysis. I only had it once, but it was awful. I saw a man, and he was comming at me with a knife. It felt like I was tied up and a rope was around my neck. Depending on your dream, a different outcome will happen in you SP. Good luck of LD'ing. |

I've only lucid dream'd twice.
Nothing bad happened.
I just controlled my dream
SP is possible to be controlled.
Just try not to think of any bad thoughts like "OH CRAP, IS HE GOING TO KILL ME!?"

| Ya, I'm not LD'ing after this...the only way that I would is by going through a week constantly reminding myself if this is logical, when my subcounsious knows its not I'll know it's a dream and I can mess around. It happened only once, I was in a dream and I was like "Wait a second...she's being annoying and this feels weird...THIS IS A DREAM" I tried to make her disappear but once you think of something it stays there. Then I tried to fly but woke up....so that way CAN work, but rarely happens. I'm not risking it, I freak out easily and am...sensitive to activity like this. Paranormal, poltergeist, anything like this. Freaks. Me. Out. But please, keep posting experiences here. I may consider it, and I like to read of others past experiences with it. |

| If you KNOW someone is going to kill you, @ about 2 above me, make the best of it. Fart on him, start cracking jokes, cause hey, you're gonna die anyways. And wait, did you have sleep paralysis after the dream? |
