| Yea, they just store them as XML files because it's easy to read and probably just the easiest to implement. |

| i think binary would be more easy to implement (just stick all objects to some fancy structure and write that to the file instead of converting the tree to some fancy xml tree and writing that and converting the xml tree back when needed) but xml is propably more forward compatible as it clearly says the item name and each property name i think while a binary format wouldnt probably include the property names, just some item ID and the property values listed after it, which wouldnt allow for changing the order of properties or adding new ones without making a whole new object. |

Oh yes indeed binary would not only be more space efficient, but significantly faster to parse that xml. Oh well. |
